So how did you do with your 2008 goals and what are they for 2009?
-
My goals for 2008 were:
- pick my first reflex up [done]
- 100$ a month [exceeded, max was 160$]
- first sale at Alamy [done]
- first payment at ISP [not done]
- 125 images online at ISP [3 short]
- 250 images online at DT and SS [exceeded]
- 100 images online at Alamy [exceeded]
My goals for 2009: I'll think about it next week :D
-
My goal was not at that thread, but anyway I haven't actually gone after it: I haven't started using RAW files. Dumb me.
Regards,
Adelaide

I haven't started using RAW files. Dumb me.
I shooted RAW for a couples of photoshoot around 8 months ago. Except the images were 5% sharper, I didn't saw why I would include more steps in processing only to say "I shoot RAW". I have no problems with acceptance anywhere. My images are sharp anyway and it take me 150% less hard drive space. Who's dumb ;) Happy 2009 everyone

In October I started a new job and I do not have much time to devote to microstock.
I hope to add 100-200 pics to my portfolio at FT,SS and IS - and fully upload my existing portfolio to DT.
I hope to have a steady income from microstock of around 250-300 Euros each month. By the end of this year, this seems to be in reach - a dream would be to earn 5000 Euros/year from microstock... .
These were my goals for this year. I made the 250 € average and probably added over 100 pics to SS and FT, but not to IS. I also did not yet upload my whole portfolio to DT. Mainly due to some unexpected changes jobwise. I will keep my expections low for the new year: I'll add another 100 pics to each portfolio hopefully and see if I can generate a steady 350 € income per month. I have one major goal for 2009 and that is finishing my Ph.D. degree. That is where my energy will go.

I failed in 2 out of 6.
I got a decent lens, I got a set of studio lights, and I got full frame all paid for by sales.
But my sales only reached $500 twice and are now back down to $250.
2009 goals:
1. 1,000 images with DT and SS.
2. Get accepted at Alamy and at least 1 other macro.
3. Get placed (first, second, or third) at least once in a landscape competition.
-
Win the Lotto
Be used as a cartoon charachter on the Simpsons
Buy every new camera body that is for sale for comparison testing of sharpness
Move out of my moms house ( well actually it's like a little apartment downstairs but mom is always down here doing the laundry )
Never wake up before 9 ever again unless I want to get a good early tee time at the golf coarse
Oh Yea, win the Lotto
-
I never set any 2008 goals so that's kinda hard to judge, but these are some 2009 goals:
- Reach 20.000 images
- 50% extra $
- Have fun at what i'm doing :D
-
My main goals last year were to upload an average of 15 photos each week, and to reach $1000 per month in dowloads. I exceeded the first goal, and reached the second in about August, unfortunately I dropped back below $1K in December.
This year my goals are to:
1. Upload in excess of 20 photos per week
2. Learn Spanish to a reasonable conversational level
3. Travel from Guatemala where I am now, all the way to Tierra el Fuego in Argentina, without jumping on a plane for any part of the trip
4. Do my scuba diving certificate
5. Fund all of the above + my trip back home solely from microstock earnings...
Good luck everyone with your goals!
-
original 2008 goals
earn double my day job income
learn studio lighting to a semi decent level
but by march I saw that I wouldn't have a hope as it was going to be a very busy year. and the goal was reassessed to be earn the same as my day job by november (when my day job was to end).
well my day job got extended to end 2009 so the pressure was lifted, some weeks my stock (macro + micro) earned the same as my day job, some weeks it didnt, considering how busy a year it was, I am mostly happy.
this years goals,
improve my average quality level further.
learn how to use these wonderful studio lights properly (couple of courses booked already)
begin shooting some lifestyle images.
get my wildlife collection accepted into a couple of macro wildlife libraries.
sales to be more than US$10000 per month by november

for the failed 2008 goals: here is the biggest failure of them all:

mmmm sad to see my goals from 08 were sabotaged by trips to Mongolia, China and Canada, one girlfriend, one ex wife and one soul mate. About six months in total of no shooting or submitting to microstock so no big surprise goals weren't reached.
Goals for 08 were:
1 - Shot better and more commercially viable images
2 - Reach 1k per month income
3 - Build folio of images up to 3000
Now for 09
1 - Shot better and more commercially viable images
2 - Reach 2k per month income
3 - Build a folio of 4000 images on shutter stock and put across on most other sites
4 - Reach Silver on Fotolia and iStock
5 - Spend less time arguing with the ex
oh and I'd also like to have a pink fluffy puddle :)
