Here is another keywording tool you can use if you want.
http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php (http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php)
It doesn't really do anything 'more' than the numerous other options, Yuri's tool, MicrostockKeywords, or the Dusegard tool, but there were a few things that frustrated me with the other options and I thought it would be a fun challenge so I made my own. The goal was to make a quick and efficient UI
The 'features'
- large 'click targets' for keywords and images, so it is quicker to click
- large thumbnails when picking images
- the list of chosen keywords updates dynamically when you click keywords or manually add them to the list, saving you one page reload.
- the list of keywords and added words always stays on the page so you don't have to scroll back to the top when finished.
so anyhow, use it if you want..
Here is a little video for those who don't like testing things out themselves :)
Microstock Keyword Tool (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dTB-TbMvq8#ws)
I also made a little keyword comparison tool last week
http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keywordcompare.html (http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keywordcompare.html)

Great tool. Thank you.
-
as they say on the streets, Oh...hell yeah! Thanks.
-
Awesome tool Tyler, better than Yuris imho :)
Should lead to higher quality keywords too, since it's not pre-selecting a load of unrelated rubbish keywords.
That's something I've been trying to create for a couple of years, and I think you've mastered it.
Very nicely done :)
-
it surely make the difference, I appreciate the fact that we have more than the usual 50 keywords like Bob said.. thanks and good job
-
Great tool. Thank you very much. A nice addition to the ones we know.
-
Very good indeed, Tyler. Thanks!
-
Leaf - another great tool. I was just in the closing stages of completing a comprehensive step by step guidebook to stock photography where I had described Yuri's tool and how to use it. I've just amended that section to now point to your version as it is easier to use and those larger images make a difference!
I only hope you don't keep doing this as I will have to keep going back to update my book!! ;D

thanks for the feedback everyone. I am also open to suggestions for improvement.
The tool can now also sort your keywords alphabetically (using the little A symbol on the right)
-
Great tool Leaf! I can forsee using both tools together - save one set of selected words to the first box on your comparison tool, then search again under different yet related keywords to develop a second set of key words and add that to the second box to compare and create a final list ready for any fine-tuning as necessary to fit the specific image.
-
Very slick, should help lots of contributors. The keyword comparison tool looks great too.
Is it possible to draw results from other than shutterstock? It would be useful for me to see a broader range.
I'd also love a search again function excluding the first set of results. The results I got for one search were way off the mark because of spammed images at shutterstock. Maybe a second set of results would be better?
First tried this at work with IE 7 (what I'm stuck with) and the check all, uncheck all, and start again buttons seemed to all be piled up on top of each other, making it hard to use them.
-
Nice one :)
-
Wow cool
In first impression tool is great.
I think font and red areas are too big. You dont need bigger font for most pop words. Try to make it more compact. Just to fill one screen without scrolling. on left side you can make 5 or maybe 7 columns. On right side space is not significant to so big to be in half of the screen like just now.
1/4 will bee just enough maybe 1/5 of size which is now. Or just enable users to slide )now hidden) vertical bar of frame where they want.
-
Thank you sooo much leaf, much easier to use and very quick. Great work and thanx for sharing it with us!
-
cool thanks for sharing
some good options would be
1) ability to go to the next photos in the search order i.e show me 101-200 in the best match sort order.
2) A couple of standard lists that you can also select from like (nobody, day, horizontal, vertical, outdoors, indoors, colour, male, female, etc.)

+1 and support for other language please - and yes great tool - thanks!

I currently get this error on the tool:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/microsto/public_html/tools/keyword.php on line 507

It's a great tool! just made use of it for the first time
I'm used to dusegard's tool (http://dusegard.se/PhotoKeywording.aspx (http://dusegard.se/PhotoKeywording.aspx)), so I'm missing an option to select only vectors / illustrations and sort out photos. Other than that, very nice tool

sorry, it's fixed now

Only one word is needed to describe your contribution, Leaf. FANTASTIC.
Thank you so much.
-
Thanks for the keywording tool Leaf --- works great and saves time!
-
Good tool, BUT: Like the other tools it works only in English. I would need one in German.

well that would be pretty simple. I'll see how quick I can get around to it.

Thank You!

It can now find German keywords for you

I'm glad you saw the thread again :)
-
I'm going to give it a try.
-
Very slick! I haven't been using Yuri's or any other keywording tool for that matter. That is about to change! Thanks so much for putting this together!

I'm going to give it a try.
feel free to give feedback / thoughts
-
How cool is that! Thanks. I really, really, REALLY hate keywording, but this will help a lot.
-
easy use, Good job!
Is it possible to add new file type for video? I guess no any other keyword tools has this searching item。
-
Nice keywording tool. Thanks for sharing! (and thanks for adding in a vector filter).
Was it easy to get an API key from ShutterStock? (I'm assuming you're not scraping the site)
-
hey there Leaf - wonderful contrib - thank you!
-
Its great, already used it thanks very much. :)

I've done a little more fixing and tweaking. Your settings (language, # of results, and type of result) will now be saved after each search so for your next search you won't have to re-enter your favorite settings. I hope that speeds things up a bit for people.

Hi Leaf
Finally got around to using it.Great tool . Thanks
Smiling Jack
-
Great Tool. I just tried it. You know it is simple if I can use it. ::)
-
I just made the cookies store your settings for a week so hopefully there should be less 'settings' clicking (number of results display, language and type of image)
-
Great tool, but have one "bug"
Bottom right the microstockgroup logo hides PicNiche Rating. (Google Chrome)
-
I am going to test this one today :)

How big is your screen? Are you on a netbook?
Not sure how to fit everything on a small screen, perhaps automatically check and resize elements if the screen is too small??

I find that setting a css min-height on elements which are expected to fill the height of the screen generally does the job without having to mess with detecting actual screen size... it just means anyone on a netbook/tablet will get a scrollbar if there is too much content (the pw keywords screen does this). It's not perfect, but it's a lot more reliable than trying to screen-size-detect reliably :)

ahhh haa. Thanks Bob. good stuff to know. You can tell how much of a hack I am :) Great to know the proper way!
edit: site is fixed now.
-
I think you just made my day.
Thank you sooooo much. ;D
-
I love it but would request an option to exclude keywords.
I did a search on 'tomato background' and got a lot of tomatoes isolated on white backgrounds - if I could just exclude the keyword 'isolated' or 'white' it would be a pretty perfect tool :)
-
thank you for making this. I've been using Yuri's (but it adds a lot of unrelated words too, and I've been getting a big of rejection from IS over it); keen to try this out. (you really should ask everyone for a small donation for your time)

You can now exclude keywords in the search.
-
Thank you!
I have been using the tool and prefer it to the one I have been using. I think that maybe you have now made it perfect :)
-
Nice work, Tyler. Any chance there will be an forthcoming version that pulls from other micros, not just Shutterstock?
-
Wow, how did I miss out on this??? Thanks Tyler, great tool
-
Wow,
Thanks a lot ! This is an amazing keyword search and congrats for the nice interface. Really good work.
-
Thanks for this tool. Glad to see it is linked in the Tools menu so I don't have to bookmark it (you should see my bookmarks list 8=) Glad that this thread was in the monthly Newsletter or I never would have seen it!
This is a great tool for a newbie like me to use. I can learn so much about keywords by seeing what other images use.
-
Is it me or the tool is broken https://www.microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php (https://www.microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php)?
I type rabbit in VECTORS and I get icons written CAT, I type BUNNY and I get no results?
Thanks!
