Title: Microstock TV Commercials
Post by: Kngkyle on November 06, 2007, 19:38
It is an interesting idea to ponder. Would it be worth it for say Shutterstock to have TV commercials? You see many no-name companies really come alive from TV advertising.

Discuss.

I think publicity in metro in some big city is more precise. In designer magazine if there's not already, or magazine who talk about photoshop and everything like that...

However, even now I don't know that much who is buying our pictures and will be the target for these publicity's. Some says it's small children who make homeworks, others internet designer and I worked in a photography store who was talking some pictures from microstock for promoting teamwork...(Or all this answer)

But i'm wide open for some more publicity!

I am not so sure shutterstock would gain much from advertising to the general public.  Lucky Oliver, Dreamstime and the like I think could-  as they have images for blogs, homework, community clubs and stuff, but shutterstock only has subscriptions so a bigger investement is needed.  Probably an investment too large for the casual image buyer.

If they combine advertizing with an eduation campaign against "borrowing" pictures wherever they find them on the Interweb - and offer microstock as cheap alternative to the general public - I believe the potential gains could be enormous. 2 flies with on slap. Win-win. Well, you get the picture.

I doubt TV is the right outlet for stock advertising.
I have seen some great ads, one and two page types from istock, shutterstock and dreamstime in major publications, even a couple for bigstock.

These sites are doing the right things, we have to provide the right images if we want a decent cut....

The only high profile ads I regularly see are from IS and SS. IS typically does a two page spread on the inside front or back cover, while SS typically does a full page, sometimes on the back cover.
