Has anyone had a better experience selling your individual photos on an exclusive basis? I know DT and FT allow photos to be sold this way, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm just not sure it is beneficial enough to restrict a photo to only one stock site. Especially since SS and IS account for 80% of my sales. Any thoughts?

I had two images that, although posted in other sites, were selling only at DT, so I set them as exclusive to get a higher earning from them.

I wouldn't however at this point choose to be exclusive contributor to any site, as my earnings are quite distributed among many of them.

yeah i was wondering about that.  ... about setting an image as exclusive if it is only selling at one site.  I have a few images on dreamstime that are selling like hotcakes (probably because they show up well in the search) but they are not selling well on other sites.

I wasn't sure if i could change them to exclusive afterwards... but if i can then perhaps I will.

hmm... a little more thinking.
you get 10% more on an exclusive image at dreamstime.. so not too much earnings... might still be worth it though... thinking.. thinking...

Leaf,

It's 20% more in fact, unless they have changed it.

Don't forget to check if you can remove it from all sites before making it exclusive.  In my case, this image wasn't at BigStock, for instance.

10% i believe

For each transaction, the photographer receives a 50 percent fee. Exclusive images receive a 60 percent fee, while exclusive photographers enjoy an additional bonus of $0.20 for each approved submission.

If it's 60 per cent rather than 50 per cent, that's ten percentage points, equal to an earnings increase of 10/50 x100 per cent =20 per cent!  ;)

It seems like it would be difficult to tell unless you were able to change a photo from non-exclusive to exclusive and then see if sales went up, and how much.

I was talking about earnings.  Instead of US$1, I get US$1.20.  Instead of US$0.50 (web size), I get 0.60.  So I make 20% more.

60% is 10% higher than 50%.  It's still 20% more.  If I'm wrong, it's an English problem, not Maths.  :)
