Title: My First Six Months Top Performers
Post by: indyedge on September 02, 2015, 19:46
Well I've learned a lot in the first six months I've been doing stock photography. My sales have really picked up the last couple of months.  Below is a list of my top earning microstock agencies. I'm sure this list could change at anytime.

!, Canstock
2. 123 RF
3 .Shutterstock
4. Fotolia
5. Dreamstime
6. Istock
7. Big Stock
8. Deposit Photo

How many pictures do you have accepted on each of those places? If you only have 25 on SS and 2500 on Canbstock, of course you will make more there.

Yeah, show us your Canstock portfolio, otherwise I'm assuming you are some kind of online marketer trying to pitch canstock.
Canstock is 6th on my list by total earnings and second last by August earnings.

I left Canstock after waiting for 2 years to reach my firts payout. I was making 90 times more in SS then I did in CanStockPhoto. Congratulations?! ;-)

I make 2X what I make at bigstock at canstock so there can be a lot of variations at the low end. I would guess the OP makes very few sales so two lucky hits at CS or an EL could be enough to send them to the top.

I got a good EL and some good sales at Canstock. In fact I didn't believe it when I saw it and reloaded the page to make sure I wasn't seeing things. However 123 RF finally over took Canstock for the first time :) I don't see Deposit Photo moving from the number 8 spot anytime soon.  My new list :

1. 123 RF
2. Canstock
3. Shutterstock
4. Fotolia
5. Dreamstime
6. IStock
7. Bigstock
5. Deposit Photo

When you have more sales you will end up with an order similar the poll on the right with maybe one or two exceptions

OP has said he had a good EL with them, that could be enough of an explaination

Wow, how do you manage to make so much on 123rf? I had a boost when I changed my keywording strategy but nothing near you.
123rf is my 4th place, but it makes me 5 times less than Shutterstock.

I just think my style is a good fit at 123RF. However my Shutterstock and Fotolia photos are doing quite well and will catch up to 123RF shortly. Now if I can figure out Deposit Photos I do terrible there :)

Slightly OT, but how are you all analysing your sales?

I'm new (2 months) and have looked at the microstock sites where my best sales are (Shutterstock, Fotolia, I-stock & Dreamstime) and can't see an obvious way of downloading the sales stats so I can plug them into a spreadsheet.

Are you using (paid or otherwise) a microstock tool?

To jump in I use a spreadsheet - if you are used to them not hard to do and you can do exactly what you want at zero cost specially if you use Open Office  ;). But no unless you are a wizard not sure you can upload "live".

So Pauws99, have you discovered a detailed sales listing on those sites I mentioned that you can then copy and paste into a spreadsheet, or are you typing in the sales details yourself?

I input total sales - don't go anymore detailed than that.

I am happy for you but come on guys ... Any classification that doesn't include numbers of sales it's unuseless...

I use to sell thousands of vector monthly on ss and hundreds daily and candtock maybe do half of an average day on SS in 3 months😂😂

So ....
The REAL BEST ARE ALWAYS...

SS
FOTOLIA..

Then the rest is not bad
123rf
Big stock
Deposit

Really low
Dreamstime
Vectorstock
Istock
Canstock
Stock fresh
Crestock is dead...

In my humble opinion😅
