25 usd a month is quite expensive. Are you sure you will have enough sales?

For that money, you could build your own stock agency. I think they making more money from contributors subscription than actual selling the content.

I do think there will be a demand for a marketplace where producers can set their own prices.

But customers also want quality control, legal check, someone who reads the releases...can they provide that?

If they only take 5% what motivation do they have to market the content? They will not be making enough money to pay for marketing costs.

But I wish you all the best, the idea to look for a pond5 alternative is the right path.

Are you trying to sell your content via yt or are you making money because people are viewing your content?

I've joined MediaCastPro about two years ago, back when it was still free to upload content. Despite uploading thousands of videos, I have never sold a single one, which seems quite strange.

You were talking about a market. A market is a place where you can buy and sell stuff. I guess you're not buying video footage, so probably you are a seller of footage.  ::)

Yes I am selling my footage and images like almost all people here. Something wrong if I am looking for new market?

maybe dreamstime or deposit or some of the other smaller places would be interested in expanding their range by offering a video marketplace where producers can set their own prices?

i think a lot of good quality content would upload there and perhaps bring some customers along.

but at least they have regular inspections of the content, which i think buyers need.

i dont think the video producers or the video market will settle into everything gets sold fofr pennies and producers lose control of prices.

Thank You cobalt, yes it was great if you can add your own price like on P5 before. I will see, this is not only one seller for me.

I sold only 3 videos on DT and maybe 1 on DP for last 10 year.
It was my low earner for images also. But I support them it was only 1 time per year payment.

I believe the demise of p5 is an opportunity for someone else to create a video marketplace where producers can set their own prices. Pond5 was very successful before ss took over.

Wouldn't it be interesting if there was more innovation in pricing? For example, what if a site allowed you to go to a variable pricing model where-in say the contributor had the option to let an AI optimize the price of each asset so both the contributor and the agency would generate the most revenue?

I would prefer to set my own prices. If a client wants to buy cheaper they will have enough choices.

How about the contributor could set a price floor, but the site could "optimize up" the price. In other words the site could raise the price to make the most money for both the seller as well as the site itself.

sounds complicated and not very fair to buyers.

they would not be able to calculate the costs of their projects, because prices for media change daily.

i wouldn't buy on such a place.

stock media is not a sack of potatoes or a ton of steel where you get basically the same stuff from many different sources.

stock media are highly specific and difficult to replace in a project.

customers spend a lot of time sourcing the right files and putting it all together.

p5 worked great for a long time.

let us recreate the place.
