Title: New Ideas???
Post by: Magnum on July 18, 2008, 10:39
I got a few great photo-ideas. 1: A woman with a headset and dof people in the background. 2: A group of people jumping and looking really happy. 3: hands together with something fragile in between

I need more ideas. Please help me...:)

A little pile of dirt with a tiny green plant?

How about a guy staring intently at a computer screen with his hands on the keyboard?

Has this been done yet? ;)
A lone tree in a perfect green landscape with the bluest sky you ever saw?

How about a gold fish riding a spinning hay bale, with smiling retired grandparents watching?

I was gonna shoot this myself, but I'll share them with you...only if everyone promise not to steal my ideas.

A group of teenagers greeting an arriving fire truck to a house fire, and handing out marshmallows and sticks.

You might also want to consider someone talking on a cell phone (or maybe a headset?) over a white background.  Would be great if they were in a business suit!

Oh, hey!  How about a woman's back on a massage table with smooth stones going up her spine!  Genius!!

Just don't tell anyone - I want to shoot these first ;)

Aha!

Now we´re talking...

This can be huge!     What about a closeup shot of grass with blue sky in the background?

I don't know if I should post my link here, but this is exactly why I built my site :D

http://www.picNiche.com (see Lee's site for his view)

I use it to generate new ideas all the time :D

(Admins, I don't know what the rules are on posting my own link, please delete my post or whatever if i've violated them).

Cheers
Bob

Idea: kid pretending to be surprised after secretly finding and opening all their christmas presents ;)

Let's talk about real life a bit.

-Teenager whit acne bored in front of a computer
-Babyboomer throwing his computer through the window
-Grandmother receiving a electronic gadget simulating to be happy
-3 pictures of the same child at different ages getting fat in front of the television
-Fat people eating ice cream in front a gym (Thanks to the Simpsons)
-Car accident whit the guy still having his cellphone in his hand

I only shoot objects :D

"Grandmother receiving a electronic gadget simulating to be happy"

A very disengaged compassion toward the old age. I lament your taste on that, Vonkara.

I am thinking of a photographing plain backgrounds from different views, so it can be used to drop cut-outs on.  ;)

Here is a 100% Sample....

What a cool shot, bet it becomes a best seller!

Failing that have a look at the PhotoShelter research here, there are links on the right with more Ideas!

http://blog.photoshelter.com/school/2008/06/buyer-survey-2008.html (http://blog.photoshelter.com/school/2008/06/buyer-survey-2008.html)

You may get a few Idea's from this forum, but your own research is the best tool, look at trends and the mood of the people, people are expecting an economic down turn, this will make them insecure what makes them feel better, they start to hang on to thoughts of better times, maybe there will be a small move to domestic holidays, prices are rising so homemaking, evenings in, home activities, bar-b-que, playing board games, cheep activities and home cooking, nostalgic images things that remind you of better times, things that keep you in a comfort zone, then look at the stable selling images and if you can make these more friendly, less cheesy smiles and less looking straight at the camera, more natural confortable non isolated images.

The reports from toy buyers on what will sell this Christmas are reworked nostalgic toys, so think in these terms for your christmas images, traditional and warm family sentric, so a child playing with a traditional game with it's siblings, rather than sitting on the floor playing on the Wii console, you are looking for the parents comfort zones not the childs, so images that may remind them of thier own childhood christmas, rather than ones that add consumer pressure.

Or you could just isolate a business handshake   ::)

You guys have got it all wrong, you're creating work for yourselves by using a camera in the first place.

Just download some free software, randomly enter some numbers and let your computer do the work, then sit back as it pumps out hundreds of background images, WARNING there is some skill element involved, you need to be able to turn your computer on, and the most important part, you need to be able to operate your keyboard (only slightly).

Forget the camera, become a Fractalist or is Fractalopher!

I agree ....less work equals more FUN.... loose the camera.
Just breeze through some other portfolios like on IS, DT, and and few others.
Pick out the images you like, download them, and resell them on the smaller less known micro sites as your own!

Be sure to flip them horizontal, so they are not as  quickly recognized, and pick out only good quality images, with composition and color.
I recommend starting with IS for beginners. IS reviewers are the pickiest, and will assure you good images to start with.
It's important you start with top notch images if you want to maintain a good reputation.

Picking out only the best images to resell will go a long way in maintaining a viable income in this industry. Remember you need to develop a good reputation.

How about a person with a laptop in as awkward position as possible? The screen should preferably be at least 3ft away from the eyes. It's also important that the person is using the laptop with just one hand. Also some bright sunlight would make it more interesting, since the person couldn't see anything in the screen.

You mean a basketball player on the beach with a laptop? would not sell well ...

2. Image of a super happy photog receiving news of yet another sub sale.

Add to the photo, with his hand held out palm up and a quarter falling into it. Oh wow! Now he's happy and excited.

Next photo, same photographer walking through a mall parking lot and finding more than that in change laying on the ground.  ;D
