Snapixel.com (who?) is being auctioned off. Revenue generated in 2011: 1200€. Current price: $2050 (reserve not met).

"It's almost like Flickr got married to iStockphoto and they had a love child!" - Techcrunch
Yeah __ right!
It's more like some boy in his bedroom had the same idea as everyone else ... and probably didn't actually have a girlfriend to have a 'love child' with.

:D :D :D
That's one of the funniest things I ever read in this forum!

It certainly shows how tough it is to make a stock site successful. Someone has certainly been working reasonably hard on this site and still it only managed 1200€ last year.

bids up to $2550 maybe getty's buying out one of its greatest threats

ahah just had my application rejected yesterday, how sad ;D

HA! ;D Thanks for the early morning belly laugh!

Maybe Shutterstock could buy it if that IPO still ever goes ahead :)

The site is not functional as a stock site and there are very few members who have very very few photos. I would be surprised if they actually made 1200€
-
What, this site has NONE of my photos???? Cummon Veer, FT and DT, you are slipping. No wonder why they need to sell the business if they don't have any slimy partner deals.
(Yes, tongue in cheek)

Did you notice the designer woman, nice bland on white, smiling, model, hey she looks like the worlds most popular microstock model and yes... It's Yuri. He's got photos everywhere. The perfect shotgun approach, get on every site. Maybe he can give a review of how the sales are there. I'd consider him the best possible person, in the know.

The site can be had for a handshake! ;D
Oh wait, everyone says how profitable it is running a site, someone buy it. PLEASE and give sellers 50% minimum to start with.

I believe there aren´t many contributors for Snap even for 90% after this, its for sale ;D

I uploaded 69 photos a few years ago and got enough sales for a payout. Don't know if it's worth leaving them there now or deleting them. There's been a few sites sold that don't seem to do anything afterwards. Anyone remember clustershot? That was very weird.

Exactly. I cannot begin to express how difficult and frustrating it has been. As Google continues to slant its search more strongly toward established businesses, it will be even harder to break through in the coming years.
