Title: PantherMedia... are they worth it?
Post by: stockmarketer on July 14, 2011, 10:45
I've known about PantherMedia for a while, but until now I figured they would be such a low earner that I wouldn't spend the time to upload there.  In my mind, they lingered in the basement with Yay, Crestock, etc.

I don't know if it's me being asleep at the wheel, but it seems that they are now considered middle-tier.  The poll results on the right say so (ok, maybe the numbers are being spammed).  But I'm also seeing the earning breakdowns of a number of people who say Panther earns them as much as BigStock and 123RF, if not more.  If that's the case, then I definitely need to get on the ball and get my whole port over there pronto.

Is PantherMedia bringing you the same amount of money every month as BigStock and 123, or are they still a bottom dweller?  I need more info before I dedicate a significant amount of time to upload/keyword/categorize my pics there (wish they were like other sites where additional work wasn't needed... it would be a no-brainer).

I wish I could get that info as well.

Like you I got excited seeing them in the middle tier and started uploading there. Got a few hundred images up there now without any rejections so far. Even my 6 year old stuff is welcomed there.

I already had a subscription sale although I opted out of that now.

I'm following a german microstock forum where quite a few people are expressing their distrust in Panthermedia because sales reporting appear to be sporadic and not transparent.

I see it as, I have nothing to lose... I started uploading to Depositphotos and I'm pleasantly surprised and every bit counts in my bank account, so I'm giving Panthermedia a shot as well.

However, with your status you should know that any response here might not represent your earning potential there also because Panther caters more the european/german market which is indeed different than american microstock.

I think it's a trial and error thing. Once I have a couple thousand images up there it's easier to tell if it was worth it...

yes, sales are sporadic but some command a good price - overall, it's not a low earner

more like canstock and veer than crestock and yay

without great expectations, but worth it imo (I'm European too)

My images are still under review for 2 months...  ??? ???
I asked them nicely (though they mention, we can't ask why my images are not online),
but at least they answered, saying that they're having heavy upload..

Their review time is one of the most delayed I've meet. Moreover its holyday season on germany ( kind of ).

Very slow for me, and the rejection rate is higher than other sites (in my experience).  I'll only upload if I have nothing else to do, which is very rare for me.   :P

Very slow, rejections with no explanation and hardly any sales. I used to sell there but it has stopped almost totally the last year. I uploaded some images in june and some haven't been reviewed yet. I would say it isn't worth it...
