Title: People shots - RF micro or RM macro?
Post by: PaulieWalnuts on August 23, 2008, 15:03
I'm building two separate portfolios for RF/micro and RM/macro and haven't quite sorted out what should go where.

I was planning on dedicating people images to RM/macro but my RF/micro stuff is growing nicely. I'm worried that they'll sit doing nothing on Photoshelter (low sales) or Alamy (gazillion images and contributors) when they could be selling on RF-micro.

What's been your experience? Do people shots make total money on micro or macro?

Personally, I would not sell images with people in RF, even in macros, unless I was using professional models.  I wouldn't like any chance of buyers misusing such images.

But I can't reallu answer your question because I don't upload such images.

Adelaide

I do the same split as you planning to do!
I'm selling a lot of people-shots as RM but rarely on Alamy and never on Photoshelter. There are other venues some of them a hard to get in to for some you need to do a good research. I personally have my most success with RM people-shots at a famous Company but its tough to get anything accepted at this place.

grp_photo: Is there possibility that you share some knowledge about these places in this forum or by PM (e.g. names).

I'm also planning to split my future portfolio on two pieces (one for micros and one for RM).

most best selling images on rf micro, rf macro and rm macro are people shots.  unfortunately there isn't really a clear answer :)
