Title: Photographer managed collections, lightboxes, etc.
Post by: travismanley on April 30, 2009, 09:55
Is there any advantage of starting one of these? I have noticed a lot of photographers using them on IS and DT.

I guess it might be just another way of getting some views on your photos, but do they really generate sales?

I believe it makes sense to point to similar pictures so if the buyer is looking for more than the one picture on the same topic, the link to collection would make it easier for them to find it. I have not had many pictures sold at once from the same collection though. perhpas someone with a bigger portfolio could give us more insight.

I've been using Cutcaster Clipfolders and adding the links to Google.  I think a collection might work the same way?

What do you mean you have been adding the links to google? Is that like submitting your website or blog?

Travis,
Google "Motocross Legends."  My cutcaster clipfolder comes up on page two.  I also included key words; a search on Zdenek Velky brings the clipfolder up on Page Three.

I guess you could do the same with your lightboxes or collections?

John Griffin explains the process in his cutcaster blog.

Thanks for the tip Warren, I never would have thought of that. I didnt realize you could submit links to Google, I thought you could only submit your website.

Great tip! Thank you!

I tried submitting my IS and 123rf lightboxes but I'm getting an error that i need to submit a link to a website not a file. The links to Cutcaster clipfolders worked fine though.
