Look, we've already discussed this here.  You can probably find the thread if you search.  I have an article somewhere on my blog about value for the money about just this.  There is nothing illegal about it.  It is up to the seller as to whether they find it ethical or not.

Oh, and you may certainly sell something RM after it was RF.  However, the added option of image history or exclusivity would not be available.

It's definitely been discussed, I think that's agreed.  A solution to this problem may be Leaf 'sticky' a post in each forum with links to the most popular/recurring discussions in that forum section, and a reminder to search a bit if that still doesn't put you on the right path.

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1847 would enforce people reading the sticky at least once, before they can post in that section.

The joys of a busy forum. :)

Hi Sjlocke

About the topic that was already discussed, I'm sorry for that. Anyway with times things changes and as we have seen, it is quite growing the acceptance on selling same images in both sectors RF micro and RF macro. Plus there is still a lot of confusions about licenses...
(but I will do search before submitting new thread the next time, I promise!  :)

I personally never thought or wrote that I consider it illegal or criminal, but you haven't directed the reply to me, so I suppose this you spoke in general to the forum. Is that so? Please tell me yes, I don't want to enter another fight...   :)

I have some doubt that serious agencies will accept any image for selling as RM, if you cannot provide an history. So, we could say 'theoretically' you could license images as RM after RF... and so on. Is that more precise I think, isn't it?
But I understand your point, to underline that nowadays photographers may sell everything everywhere...   :)

regards,

Also having the same image as RM and RF, or RM after it has already sold as RF, doesn't make sense.  I have the same image in different sites as RM and RF, BUT if I sell in one model I remove the image from the sites that have it in the other model.  I only have them in this odd situation when I know I can easily remove them.
AFAIK, selling the same image as RF and RM is not allowed and if you sell an image even only once as RF, you cannot remove it from the site and sell it as RM later.

Even your way of proposing an image as RM and RF is very questionable I would say as you cannot be 100% sure that you won't get into the situation where two buyers do purchase a RM and a RF license almost at the same time.

RM and RF are not in the same sites. It's basically in SP that I have the images as RF, as it only allows RF. In FP I can only upload as RF and I have to ask to have images changed to RM, so they are RF there for a while.  And if I sell it once as RF, I removed it from RM sites immediately, and reupload as RF.  I have done it both ways, in fact.

My sales are (unfortunately) not abundant enough to risk selling the same image as RF and RM almost at the same time.  It's even rare for me to have the same image sold in microstock in the same day!
