Title: PhotoShelter equivalent for video?!
Post by: brianholm on November 26, 2020, 08:02
Hi gang

I'm looking for a PhotoShelter equivalent kinda thing, but for video sales instead (or both video and stills). I basically need a platform where I can upload my own videoclips, and set my own price for those clips. What's out there, worth getting into?

Thanks for your help :-)

Brian

Pond5 lets you do that. But if you set your price on P5 at one price, but sell them lower somewhere else, P5 will change your price. They don’t do well with images, though. I am only relaying what others say, I don’t sell video.

Thanks cathyslife :-)

I'm already on Pond5. What I need is a self-hosted solution or platform like PhotoShelter, where I pay for template/website/hosting/storage space, where I can set my own price, and keep all income, rather than share it with some agency :-)

You can go totally on your own using a Wordpress site with either WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads plugins to sell your files. This way all the earnings are yours. But so is the backend management and the SEO!

Sorry, misunderstood.

Check out Photodeck. https://www.photodeck.com (https://www.photodeck.com)

I'm using both PhotoShelter and Photodeck. They're similar in offering a turnkey website platform. Photodeck is more video friendly where you can actually upload videos. It also offers templates but has way more configuration options than PhotoShelter. I know Photoshelter has been making a lot of updates recently but they have a long way to go to catch up to current offerings.
