Do you know the folks that got photoshop for free if it was for one computer or two computers?

Two computers, but can't be used on both at the same time.
and, if you try to run on a 3rd, it just shows the other 2 & asks you to sign out of one of those

Creative Cloud subscription can be run on up to two machines at a time. You can install the software on other machines but as noted above, you will need to sign out of at least one of the other machines before you could use the third.
