SS Good but not good enough
Canva keeps producing sales, already beating BS
BS 25 cent sales, and not enough
CanStockPhoto and PD normal month
FAA nothing

A very good month, after a couple of weak ones.  It was my 3rd best, beaten only by two months when Envato paid out for my participation in their content bundles.

BME on SS by a wide margin, 51% of my total for the month.  123rf was 2nd at 19%, Deposit 3rd at 7%, iStock 4th at 5%, Envato 5th and Dreamstime 6th at 4%, BigStock 7th at 3%, and Canva, StockFresh, and CanStock in 8th, 9th, and 10th at 2%.

October was my third month at Canva, and I only have a small percentage of my work there with an equal number waiting patiently for review, but I'm pretty happy with the results so far.  And getting sales at StockFresh feels like some kind of miracle.  Curious to see what November brings.

IS exclusive, continuing to feel the pain:

Year over year, DLs down 42%, and earnings down 49%!  >:(

I thought September was bad (DLs / $s down 46% / 44%), but a full month of their brilliant change was even worse.

I was an indie for several years, until mid 2010, so I don't need anyone to tell me to go indie.

My thinking (perhaps mistaken, perhaps not), is that at this point, having to start over from scratch on all the sites with my relatively middling portfolio, would be an increase in workload with probably a decrease in income.  I feel I might as well ride it down further.  At some point, if it gets to where I'm pretty much earning what I earned when I was an indie, then I'll decide to go indie again, or perhaps just seek other avenues and say goodbye to microstock.

It's NOT the answer for everyone.

Not a great month in dollars.
Once again SS is tops, bringing in 58% of the income.  This month was interesting.... not a lot of "big" sales, but individual downloads were way up - like 25%, when I looked back the last time I had more individual sales was November 2011.  Would have been an incredible month with SS if more of the sales were OD/SOD/EL!

Excellent month for me at SS (in fact, the third excellent month in a row and BME except for that one freak month about a year ago when I made two $100 sales on one day)

Decent month at Alamy.

Pretty much nothing of note with all the rest.

It's that freak month to me. I had an array of SOD's on SS, making it my BME.

October better than September

Background: I'm an illustrator since 2005, did not submit any images in October.

SS, which makes up 38% of my revenues was unchanged from October 2013. However, all other sites were down, causing my total revenues to be down 14% from October 2013.

Up 11% on Sept.  Down about 10% from last October.

Sites that gained ground were Fotolia and 123RF and sites that lost a lot of ground were Dreamstime and Istock.  SS was about average for me.

BME on both Shutterstock and Fotolia, and I didn't really add much. Can't complain.

SS solid - better than last month and this month last year so can't complain, mainly due to video and large SOD sales.  BME on 123 even though numbers are down due to a large EL that pushed it past last BME.  BMY on DP due to high sales despite not uploading there for more than 6 months.  iS OK, FT solid.  The big disappointments were BS, CanStock and DT which all had their WMYs.  For DT it was the worst in more than 2 years.  Other sites all bad - dead and deadder - except for Canva where I had a few sales on my measly 11 images online there, need to get more uploaded.  Overall below the average for the year and total downloads didn't even meet the average from last year so not encouraging.

I have to agree about DT.  WME there if you don't count the first year I was getting my portfolio started.  What is up?  Did they stop marketing, or what?  I know things like getty free images and DPC have some affect, but most other sites are not losing ground like DT.

3rd BME at SS and 4th overall. Pretty average for this year, which is still good

BME for me at SS and several other sites showed increases too. IS crashed and burned and I am pretty sure I am going to have to use a defibrillator to revive that one, assuming it is not too far gone...lol. Good month over all though considering my small ports.

October was down by about 20% compared to September because September had a super record month on SS and this month was back to normal. But Fotolia and pond5 saw a nice increase, istock was a little more but nothing drastic considering that this is supposed to be the best month of the year and nothing special otherwise.

But I am quite pleased with the results, especially because the files that I think will do well on an agency also sell pretty fast, so I am getting better at streamlining my workflow.

I expected so much more from October this year, but by the end I was happy just not to be below September. For whatever reason my revenue (sales and referrals) from Shutterstock dropped drastically in the second half of October, and it has not returned to normal so far. Also my POD sales have not increase this year so far. So October turned out to be the same as September and 5% less then last year October.

My best four: Shutterstock, DepositPhotos, BigStock, Zazzle
