Title: Pitty! its come to this!
Post by: lagereek on October 14, 2011, 00:20
Well I have just had a private mail here, telling me about my personal attack on some people in my thread about "copycats" which was removed. Now anybody reading that thread must surely have seen it was a comical thread, with an ironic undertone,  hence the smiley!   but sadly, not so. Instead some took this as a personal attack, well?

Dan!  however, was right,  this is what its come to. Sadly this forum is degenerating to a similarity of the DPR,  where you cant even mention a camera brand and all hell breaks out.

Frustration, jealousy, bitterness and anger, is nowdays the criteria of the MSG, which seems to be accepted not just by most members here but also by the Admin.

I have no use for that and I cant belittle myself to share such values and thinking. It should be beneath ones dignity.

So sorry and thousands of appologies to the ones mentioned in the Copycat-thread.

Thanks for this time around and dont get swallowed up by bitterness and jealousy :)

I don't think "ironic undertone" works in a forum.  If you're being funny in real life, people can see it but when you write something nasty about someone, they only see the words.  It looked personal and I didn't like it.  We usually use this sort of humour with our friends that know us well, it can be hard to interpret for people that have never met you.  There's also the language, culture and humour differences.

And when you don't like what others think about you, we get this "Frustration, jealousy, bitterness and anger, is nowdays the criteria of the MSG".  I think people were angry at the insults you wrote, nothing else.

well stated.  I am glad there are people who are better at explaining themselves than me :)

Anything gets cut that hits a bit rougher tone of voice - which tone is an absolute neccessity when dealing with most people. Even kids know that, only childish adults don't who never grew up. Those want kidergartens for adults with pink fences and pink grass, and little pink saliva fountain : )

ithn!  thats true. like in every forum you must not speak your mind and certainly not show your true colors. Anybody who dares has got lots of courage. Just look at the IS forum.
I do admire people speaking their minds and really thats what its all about, is it not.

I worked many years as a professional writer. I can see why so many comments on forums are taken the wrong way from what was intended. A slight change in wording can convey an entirely different meaning.  In normal face-to-face conversation a given word can be perceived 100% differently than when seen in typed form. The fact that a smiley is used can even reinforce the perception instead of softening it. My main point is don't try subtlety in print unless you really know what you're doing.

Oh Yeah, who says, want to take that outside buddy? :D  (does the smiley work now?)

I agree, that sometimes people will read into messages and especially depending on the source.

Coming from someone anonymous who just joined today, the same comments from a long time member, will be perceived differently.

Coming from someone who's an anonymous troll who regularly tries to stir up things, it will be seen another way. Maybe laughed at because many have become accustome to that kind of message and it just goes with the territory.

And coming from you or Leaf, or a whole bunch of level headed people here, will be looked at and probably taken in a softer meaning, because of your history of being fair and reasonable.

(coming from the class clown, some people will be offended, some will laugh, some won't get the point or mocking irony.)

I tend to speak my mind and true feelings, I'm not anonymous and I know a few people her are regularly irritated with my views because they feel differently. Here's hoping that those same people understand we aren't all the same, and I respect their views, even though I don't agree with them. It wouldn't be worth coming here if we were all boring, yes people, agreeing about everything like a bunch of mind numb robots. Or in politics voting strict party lines, instead of thinking for oneself?

If we all agreed there would be nothing to write about except a bunch of Who Yeas and back slapping. Then drink the Kool-Aid of blind followers ignorance.
