Yes big pity. Also sub downloads will only count as 1 10th of a normal sale for rankings.

They aren't a very big selling site either so no chance of getting the higher rates, almost a 50% cut for me. No point at all uploading there any more. At least they are an easy one to drop.

Low sales + low commission = No way
Stop uploading is not enough! Removing content is what they deserve!

I thought I'd have a look at the site and its images (I couldn't recall anything about them) but a search attempt failed with this message:

Too many users are trying to access. Please wait for a while and try again later.

I followed their suggestion to try something else "You can also search from :CategoriesFeatured PhotosFeatured Illustrations", but Featured Photos put up a white page

Does their site typically work smoothly?

These companies are just trying to squeeze as much out of business as they can before closing shop or making just enough to make them happy, while not really caring about the contributor, as so many agencies have shown. Look at FOTOLIA for crying out loud. They have proven time and time again that contributor relationships are the lowest priority for them.

As far as I am concern companies like PIXTA are a total waste of time even talking about  :(

Another one going the way of the RC. I hope they lose all of our images for this.

I signed up with them at some time in the past but never got around to uploading anything - now I'm glad I didn't waste my time

I uploaded there 200 images shortly after an English Interface had appeared. First it looked interesting. But than the sales had dried out. I did ask a few times to lift me the monthly limit to put all portfolio through. Explaining otherwise it would take me up to 3 years to put all images online. They were not interested. So I waited until portfolio on Shutter would be more tempting and tried again this April. Via the stock and personally to some representative. No reply, and the limit stayed the same.

Meanwhile they announced Imasia, changes in the payments and new ranking system.. Trust me, the way they sell stuff, nobody will get to the decent ranks based on sales from 2013. Even people who were there early and managed to lift the limits. I had requested my hundred dollars to get out of there as soon as they transfer the money. So long and thanks for all the fish (c), including Imasia herring.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein

Why do people keep supporting these upstarts that have barely functioning sites, make promises and fail to deliver downloads or returns. If you keep uploading and encouraging them, they will come back just like weeds.

Some people keep saying "It could be the next big thing" which is nice and optimistic. Good that there's still some hope and confidence. But I have one question:

What was that last Next Big Thing that came along and worked out to be beneficial and profitable? What new agency has actually produced income and stuck to their promises?

And I figure if one actually does come along and IS the next big thing, I'll jump on after it proves itself. No need to be on the first train or be an early adopter if it's really stable and works. I'm tired of anticipation, hope and frustration.

Now it's up to them to prove they are worthwhile and will pay back for the time and effort. I'm not supporting any new upstarts for suckers.

I think there has to be a middle ground. There won't be a "next big thing" if no one is willing to take a chance on a startup. On the other hand, no one has the time to contribute to every wannabe-next-big-thing that comes around asking for images.

We need to be willing to take some chances. A site doesn't have to be 100% all there before we should be willing to support them. Everyone's comfort level with taking risks on startups will be different. But if we're not willing to take some chances, we'll never see that "next big thing" emerge.

Thank you for checking the e-mail regarding the changes of
the commission rates.

This is a big change for the contributors and we can imagine that
you are worried about this situation.
We have considered about this change for over 6 months and
finally decided to announce it for the reasons below.

The new investment is necessary to expand PIXTA and Imasia
on both the national andinternational markets to increase
the sales opportunity of the contributors.

The total sales of Pixta is growing for 1/2 to 2 times
every year and it doesn't meet the standard anymore.

We believe that this change will become a huge step to
return more benefits to the contributors in the future.
And we will do our best more than ever to improve our website
and our service so that you can make the best use of
our service and in order to develop together.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

What on earth does this mean? "The total sales of Pixta is growing for 1/2 to 2 times
every year and it doesn't meet the standard anymore."
(I can think of a few interpretations.)

Also, when I read it, I immediately thought what you posted, Luis - "agencies and excuses walking together all the time but always for our best" but you phrased it better than I would have.

it must be from 50% to 200% more each year

shameless, they have that increase and still need to cut us more, they aren't happy with 200% and need 400% :o

Basically that comes from the same play book every agency uses when they hack off commissions. We could have easily predicted what they'd say or how they'd answer.

Deplorable. Another company that thinks we were born yesterday. It's the same tired old "we're doing this for you" nonsense.

Glad I'm not involved with this company, and I never will be if this is their attitude towards contributors.

Not that I would have been anyway. They break my new "50% or don't bother" rule for new agencies. :)
