I just finished putting together a specialized stock site (its only wine industry photography), and wanted your uninhibited critiques -- I've been working in a vacuum and would like opinions from folks familiar with stock sites and could spot any glaring errors I have made but am too involved to notice.  For example -- do I have too much text on the home page?  Are the categories easy to read?  Is the navigation intuitive?

I'm especially concerned because I couldn't afford the expensive stock software so had to build this pretty much from scratch -- who knows how many mistakes I've made!

Its at: http://www.vinografia.com/

TIA!!!

seems to work fine.  A little slow loading but not too bad.

Slow to load front page.

I was using IE6 with a 1024 x 768 display and wityh the frontpage the last column was off the screen with the search box, maybe put that column on the extreme left instead of extreme right just in case anyone isn't using 1200x1600 or better. Or maybe just make it all fit onto a single page, would need to resize thumbs.

Nice to see to read some text whilst the thumbnails loaded. What is the default order newest first?

I would separate download prices from prints to order prices, a nice idea downloads and prints.

Any prices for extended licences??

Great watermark maybe add site's name at bottom just in case some ****** copied it and used it at least you would get some advertising until you tracked them down and cut off their thumbs.

DISCLAIMER I know nothing I have no qualifications in webdesign and my own website is a work in progress which stalled weeks ago.

The way you present your pricing structure is confusing.  You should not list prints in with downloads.  And, when you list image sizes you should provide both dimensions, not just the longest dimension.

Your design is unbalanced, both in Firefox and Explorer.  The right-hand column (with the login, shopping categories, and shopping cart) should align at the top with the "box" that presents the image and its associated sales information.  As it stands, that right-hand column is aligned at the top of the page and your corporate logo.

Prices seem a bit high to compete with microstocks, but I'm not a buyer so don't go by my impression.

Will you be accepting submissions from photographers, or is this agency exclusive for your images?

Interesting concept & a subject close to my taste buds  ;D

Thank you guys so much for checking it out!  But you were all supposed to say "It looks wonderful exactly how it is!!!!!" ;)  It looks like I've got my work cut out for me!  One problem with the size options is the only way to allow multiple downloads was to have it all together like that -- but I could put a blank line separating each option, so I may need to do that.

And I would definitely like to add photos from other photographers -- its very limited right now and I want to be able to offer a WIDE range of photos.  I just didn't want to out and out ask because I was concerned about everyone thinking I'm spamming.  And my number one priority was to have the site checked out for problems.  If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] (I'm offering 25%)
