Interesting story about how a political party has retired a whole campaign for using these images licensed at Shutterstock because that use "is not allowed" according to the newspaper article.

The article is in spanish but google translate is your friend if you are interested.

Maybe you could teach me how to read this with Google translate using Firefox? Is there something I can click and view, or do I have to copy and paste and spend time, instead of just ignoring.

As it is, I took the time to save people the time and effort, since someone might want to read it, without making extra effort? I mean if you posted it, maybe you could also post the translation for the rest of us. And then, I'm not sure I understand some of this, as the translation tool could be flawed.

Did it get the bold part right? What does color or hugs have to do with anything? Really, I don't understand. Metaphor for embrace the party and people are making it into some pandemic controversy? I think I don't understand. Maybe you could translate the translation errors.  ;D

Citizens' innovative 'Vote Embrace' campaign has barely lasted a day as the Orange party has been forced to withdraw it upon learning that it had used images of people of different ages from an image bank banning its use in politics for cartels.

"Given the information derived from the use of certain images in a product of citizens' electoral signage in the autonomic elections, liberal training has brought to the attention of the agency responsible for the creation of the signage the situation and has ordered at that very moment and immediately the removal of those images," the training noted in a statement.
The campaign was also criticized on social media as it encouraged hugs in the midst of a wave of coronavirus

In his attempt to retrace the unfavorable polls, Cs designed the campaign from people who embraced themselves as a metaphor for the embrace among Spaniards advocated by the constitutionalist party in the face of independence.

"We feel like hugging our family and friends but also for us to embrace each other again as Catalans," explained party leader Ins Arrimadas on Thursday on the slogan 'Vote Hug' at the campaign presentation.

The campaign did not last 24 hours as on Friday night the party decided to withdraw it when it learned that the image bank it resorted to prohibited the use of them for the purposes sought by the training led by Carlos Carrizosa. Criticism of the campaign also gave the ultimate push to withdraw it.

In fact, unlike the shocking campaign with which Albert Rivera appeared before the general public on the posters of the 2006 autonomic campaign appearing completely naked, this time social media has not given its go-ahead to the proposal of the party campaign ideologs.

The militants did not like, among other things, that the posters did not use the color with which the party is identified, as well as the naif aesthetic of the posters. Nor has the current pandemic context in which it is recommended not to give hugs played in favour of the campaign, as the party has been reminded on social media.

Between the calculation mistake made with photos and critical voices against the campaign's aesthetics, Cs' leaders have chosen to back down what can already be called one of the first anecdotes of the campaign when only three days ago the start kick was made. Cs's has surely been one of the shortest campaigns in election history with a single day.

It is a campaign where the message is that all catalans should embrace themselves again for the elections that will be held in 2 weeks in Catalonia, autonomy territory in northeast of Spain (similar to a federal state ). As there has been a lot of conflict among catalans in the past years, those that want independence from Spain and those that want to stay in the country the campaign was supposed to be a metaphor to reunite this two very distant points of view.

The article says that the campaign has been criticized a lot is the social media because of different reasons. First, because the images do not use the party colours (orange). Second because many people say the images are "naive". Third because there are images from the same shoot where the same model shows his middle finger (:-D)  and the most weird of all is "that in a time that hugging is not recommended because of the pandemic situation this images spread a wrong message....whatever.

In any case it is weird that in a political campaign that costs lots of money in banners, prints, leaflets, the design,.....they cannot spend a little of that budget hiring a photographer and a few models that make it a personal and unique one. The sign of our times ...-good enough- although the images are quite "microstocky" and you risk this kind of problems using people endorsing an ideologic view as they were sympathizing with this party. Well many mistakes and they are learning the hard way. Now they have to start all over because of the prohibition and people backslash they retired the campaign.

Maybe you could teach me how to read this with Google translate using Firefox? Is there something I can click and view, or do I have to copy and paste and spend time, instead of just ignoring.

..

it's straightforward --

enter 'google translate on the address line of any browser - it'll come up w a screen that lets you choose the languages, then you just paste in the text & the result shows up (it's fun to translate english - russian - thai - english, eg)

many turks play online bridge & chat in turkish - they're always surprised when a gringo enters a turkish reply to them

To read something that some linked, I go to that page, then copy, then go to Google translate and then paste, then select the language and read the message?

I thought there was some kind of plugin that I was missing that said "Translate this".

Yes I've read a bit about the conflict and the desire to be separate. I'm not going to stick my nose into other country politics that I'd hardly understand.
I was wonder what the translation meant when it said they used the wrong color?

And I mean embrace yourself or the party or being what you are and someone says they have a problem because of the pandemic. That we shouldn't hug?  ::)

Do the parties each have special identification colors or something? Or did it mean the Orange party didn't identify they were behind the campaign?
