just wondering if anyone else had this happen... I've usually seen consistent performance (sales) in december - looking at my historical amount, it's been roughly the same last 3-4 years... this year, about an 80% drop in sales, may be temporary. just surprised. anyone else seen the same?

Pond5 was also very bad for me this year.
I only received 43% of the income from the previous year.

P5 was also a big disappointment for others. See this thread :
https://www.microstockgroup.com/pond5/pond5-sales-slump/

With SS I had a profit increase of 16% and with AS even a profit increase of 43%.

i had a bump from a special payout in april - otherwise Pond5 sales were about 30% over previous year - but hardly worth further contribution ass - i've left my portfolio sit & not uploaded since early 2022

Pond5 hasn't been too bad for me this month December with 7 downloads so far. Earlier in the year there was a period of zero downloads for over 30 days.

Review times have been very slow on Pond5 though and I guess it's because of the new contributor rules for indicating editorial content and there's probably some confusion and errors from contributors not familiar with Shutterstock's editorial vs commercial content. This could be creating a backlog of content awaiting review.

Speaking of Shutterstock, I'm having the worst month of the year and potentially the worst since April 2022. Currently, number of downloads are a little more than December 2022 but less than half the earnings. What more, I have uploaded well over 1000 extra videos this year to Shutterstock with a good range of content and here I am with 49% earnings (Dec 23 vs Dec 22). Was almost tempted to resurrect the "Shutterstock is an embarrassment" thread because frankly... this is embarrassing.

Adobe Stock on the other hand is 219% ahead on earnings (Dec 23 vs Dec 22) and 96% ahead of Shutterstock for Dec 23 - with far less assets.

Without those bigger sales, Shutterstock is like an old broken down Ford Cortina. ;D

All said, my overall earnings is an 89.9% increase in 2023 compared to 2022. This is due to uploading around 1000 videos to each of my ports (iStock / Pond5 / Shutterstock / Adobe Stock) all year. So really can't complain and am expecting 2024 will be even better.

Wish everyone here a Merry Christmas.

Same with my SS sales this month.  Really dropped off a cliff.  For the most part, all my main agencies are down, too, but I guess that's expected at the end of the year.  But as you can see in my sales chart, it's puzzling how SS has dropped so far so quickly to the point that other agencies are outselling them, which rarely happened before.

What's the average sale price per a video sale on Adobe Stock and Shutterstock these days?  Is it like 80-90% video subs?

Like pretty much everywhere else, the bulk of AS sales are subscription pricing.  So, $2.80, $4.20, and $8.40 are the norm with the occasional $22.40, $28, $56, and $70 thrown in the keep the spirits up.

In December I had 6 video sales on Adobe: 2.80,  2,80, 2.80, 5.60,  11.27,  28 dollars.

I have 243 clips on Adobe, most of them very old.

On pond5 I had zero sales in December with 1100 clips.

6 sales (4 exclusive): 200$ this month, not bad.

A new low for Adobe with two videos selling for a commission of $2.66 each. Never had lower than $2.80 before.

When a $2.80 video is sold to a US customer, 5% withholding tax is deducted, making it $2.66.

In my case, I have 1.96 video sales at AS (2.8 - 30% withholding tax ::))

I'm surprised to see Storyblocks outperforming other agencies.  Impressive.

Link below to Microstock Life on Youtube, he reports on video sales for the month of July 2023.

Storyblocks is his top earner in this month's update with $1511.60 from video sales on the agency (cue 3 min 53 sec). Does well on Adobe Stock too (cue 2 min 12 sec).

Has an interesting perspective on Pond5 at the 38 second mark.  ;D

I think he's making mistake by not uploading to Pond5.  It takes time for your new clips to start selling on Pond5 unlike on Adobe Stock and Shutterstock.

Is storyblocks one of those agencies that's hard to get into?
Also are they primarily video?

I heard an application to SB is difficult to get approved these days. I don't know why or what they're looking for.

I only contribute video, and my contributor's account is only able to upload video, animated assets, AE templates, and 360 VR.
