Title: pond5 sales plummet to $0?
Post by: SuperPhoto on April 21, 2019, 00:01
not sure if it is because I voiced an opinion along with many others (I was quite polite, I know others were a bit 'agitated')...

but - has anyone else seen their pond5 sales plummet to $0 since last month? they were consistently producing at least a few hundred $$$... but $0, strange...

Maybe the exclusives are getting preference?

Not sure when that will actually happen but it WILL happen.

I voiced an opinion

Ah, if that was the case, I have made so many extra ultra positive comments, I should sell like crazy!

They are not stupid, content is king, customers (guess) buy what they need. Not "exclusive" irrelevant or inferior clips! Perhaps they messed with something, look how many times login (with w/out) verification changes, curation times, order in own clips, etc.

Guess things will settle down. After Easter or in time.

EDIT: On a second thought, all us people exclusive or not raising prices, might affected negative our search ranking? I dunno.

Just wondering if anyone else who voiced an opinion noticed the same, or - if it is just a bit a fluke. (Very concidental fluke, seeing as the last year has been consistently a couple hundred/month, now $0).

I'm exclusive and this is happening to me too (0 sales this month against 8-15 usually)

I second that emotion wih zero sales. I am also exclusive but for the first time I had 0 sales in consecutive 30 days at my non exclusive account, despite having larger than usual views.

Well, now that you mention it, I did respond on a follow up e-mail that I was happy about the fast response time but not happy with the answer, as to me it did not give a specific response to all my questions! I was polite so I hope it's not that! I guess it's always better to blame the others! We are never wrong! That's I think when you know you are crazy! When you always think all the others are wrong and only you are right!

Everything is bad.  AS is half what it was last month, Canva, 10% of highs, Pond, one sale so far.

Getty made a deal to supply Canva with photos... which is cutting into Canva contributor sales.

It looks like all the photos are $1 or free when making a design not just Getty ones.

I've seen a massive drop off starting in January. This was my biggest selling agency for the past 3 years and they are getting crushed by SS now. What the heck is going on with Pond5?

Pond5 is alive and kicking for me!

March was one of my best months ever on Pond5 and elsewhere followed by a sudden slow down in April. This is an unsubstantiated theory, but I'm guessing it might be to do with end / beginning of new tax year. New budgets being allocated etc in April causing a temporary slow down. That being said things have picked up on Pond5 but will need a solid final week of sales to limp to the average mark.

When did pond5 remove the Web size files?

When did pond5 remove the Web size files?

I think that web disappeared the day the "great news" live show was aired.

It wouldn't be the first time a site announced exciting new plans followed by plummeting sales. Sadly for me Alamy is going that way at the moment.

Perhaps there is a catch here.
There is not a web option visible while browsing.
That does not mean that they not might
(might as I dunno or have not any info about, just assuming)
bulk sale lower resolution announced as good news in time...

I still manually correct and raise a little bit the "web"
or lower resolution prices in every clip submitted
and browsing (my) clips still see two price options (from/to).
It is good as long as I do not mind to sell lower resolution in lower price,
but I do not think it is wise to "let Pond set a price".
That was the main reason I choosed P5 over AS and SS and the exclusive option after all.

I raised my prices to make up for the commission cut and I did have above average sales this month. So no plummeting for me, so far.
