I am looking creating a web site to link to my portfolio and help build traffice. Is there a free web hosting (I'm cheap) service out there that anybody would recommend?

Yahoo Geocities is still free.
Hasn't Gmail started its own free hosting as well?

some blog owned by google, you know it will be search angine friendly

I am using www.googlepages.com, for simple website its perfect, its free and without advertising. If you have your want domainname you can use it too. Mine cost me $10 a year. I got it over www.google.com/a .

Thank for the googlepages info, it took me 15 minutes to set up a page. With cut and paste icons from my stock sites it could not have been easier! the lin is http://northwoodsphoto.googlepages.com/northwoodsphoto I'll beef it up later.

Blog is also a good option. You can open it on http://wordpress.com/ or http://www.blogger.com

I was setuup personal page/photo blog on www.shock.co.ba and before cople of days I was buy www.iFotolia.com and redirect domain to my portfolio on FL. On fotolia you have tool to create page with your pictures. Something like this: http://myfotolia.com/dotshock
