Hi All,

I brought this up at Istock on the help forum and they say it is coincidence and probably is but I thought I would run it buy others here and see what you think or if you have had the same experience. I don't want to start a IS hate post so please just info relating to my question would be the most helpful.

I have been uploading to IS lately and for the past few months several of my images from every upload immediately show 20 views with no downloads. Now I am not concerned by no downloads it just seems strange that it is always 20 views or multiples of 20's, sometimes 40 or 60 after a week but always in 20's. Has anyone ever seen this happen at Istock.

It might just be coincidence but I thought I would throw it out there.

Thanks,
AVAVA

I have noticed that too, although not in multiples of 20, I saw unusually high views in some photos.
Time ago there was a gang with reviews, then one which bought their own photos, so now there may be one again screwing the stats to gain some advantage.  As they say "to think ill is sin, but it is often right"

High views is totally understandable. I personally browse the newest uploads 1 or 2 times a week at up to 20 pages sometimes. But having multiples of 20's, that's weird and could be a bug or a maybe only a coincidence

In view of the current best match thread on istock, this is clearly a good thing.

I seriously suspect something fishy going on with that views I also noticed that and mentioned on another thread. and it was just yesterday 3 of my newly approved files got exactly same number of views( 10) shortly after the approval. I have no proof and I don't know who to blame but I don't believe it could just be  a coincidence

Look at these two threads:

It's obviously something that has been going on. I just started with Istock and one of my images got the same 20 views on the first day.

I love these conspiracy threads, does this one hold water though? Here's your last 20 uploads and their views just now. First in list was uploaded  18th November, last 25 October.

Of them at the very most only 5 could possibly have met the stated first day views of 20 and there is only one multiple of 20.

12,11,10,15,9,20,25,15,16,24,15,19,11,21,15,13,9,13,16,27.

As all images have always had an initial kick from being in the newest uploads link, CNs etc etc I wonder if Mulder and Scully may just stay at the office over this mystery ;D

Recently, some of my whole batches (and I mean whole batches) get about 20 views first day, and some of them get only 1-2. It is symptomatic.. I don't think we can talk about initial kicks of some batches and missing of initial kicks of another batches.

It looks that there is more to come

"Ok, so today I checked my lightboxes. I was amazed to learn that one of my lightboxes Textural Backgrounds shows a staggering 46,178 views."

The Setinel,

I do not have anything against Istock but their exclusive license which has completely changed the term of exclusive in the stock industry. If you are going to pull up my collection to prove me wrong that is your choice but I would hope I have built a bit of creadability here to show I don't make things up or attack people.
I was just asking a question that has ( now I found out ) been posted twice before here. I am not trying to start a conspiracy if you would read my letter I asked that this kind of response not take place just please offer advice if you have noticed this before.
DUDE, you gotta chill there is no conspiracy just a question. Isn't that what these boards are for. Try reading my post again and see if it looks like I am trying to start trouble or a conspiracy as you put it. I believe I stated that it was probably a coincidence as a matter of fact I think I said that twice in my post.
I have many images that have been viewed 20 times in the first day I did not say all of my images. Lighten up bro, once again I was asking a question.

conspiracy or not, whatever you call it but I don't like the idea of number of views having affect on best match, which because  I think could easily be manipulated. this is what I noticed on StockXpert too. before the site  upgrade  very same people got higher places on pop desc order, which I believed was due to questionably high views.and the impact of high views seems to have an opposite (negative) impact on IS best match ,I know I have no proof of that but these are my thoughts.

I would like a chance to appoligize to The Sentinel,

It appears his post was all in jest and I took it the wrong way. I have since taken my morning chill pill and will try better to answer questions with a lighter spirit. Again Sentinel my appoligies for any disrespect and I hope we can keep up the open conversation. Too early in the moning and I shouldn't post till after my coffee and my hand full of downers. ;)

Best,
AVAVA

Aside from the last line, seemed like serious post to me.  Why do you think his entire post was in jest?

Hey Sean,

He sent me a PM on another site and said it was.

Hi All,

I believe I have made an error in an earlier statement. I said that the Sentinels post was all in jest. I reread the post after Sean pointed it out and I might have misunderstood him. He said he thought it was funny but he was relating to something else not the entire post. I now realize that his post was not a joke and wanted to retract my misinterpretation. I sent him a PM to apologize and I am in the process of trying to mend our fence.

On that point there is one more reader here that I seem to have angered or frustrated over time and I have sent him several PM's to try and fix the problem but so far he will not respond although he continues to take jabs at my posts. I know you can't please all the people all the time but for me it is important to step up and try to repair any harm I may be party to.

If I ever make any of you mad by something I offer or say please feel welcome to PM me and let me know, or tell me right in the post in plain English. I am capable of saying the wrong thing and also being misinterpreted. I will always make an effort to clear up any misunderstanding and reach a hand out to try and correct things.

I am sorry for taking up readers time with this but it is important to me to try and correct. Some will say just screw it but I really think it is in all our best interests to work together here and never against each other.

Best,
AVAVA

Jonathan, I wouldn't worry too much if there are a couple of members who are aggravated with you.  It is inevitable with so many people and so many differing opinions that sometimes people will get on each others nerves.

I haven't perceived any intended slight to anybody in any of your posts.  On the contrary you are one of the more helpful and friendly members of the board.

You can't please all the people all the time.  No point in even trying... :)

Hi Lisa, he's probably a Libran like me. We Librans are always trying to bring the world into harmony. We never succeed of course, but we never stop trying ...  :)

Can I just say that I contacted Jonathan to say that I had 'posted in good humour', then seemed to imply it was a joke. Good humour, I hoped, would imply lack of malice, the way that blokes might rib each other in pub, which I thought I could as we'd previously PMe'd.

HI All,

I would like to put this to bed for everyones sake.

I had first thought The Sentinels post was in jest and posted so. Then another poster felt I had misunderstood the post and that it looked serious to him. So I had a second read to see if I had missed something, should have stuck with my original feelings.
To my knowledge The Sentinel is one of the good guys around here and I don't want anyone to think otherwise from anything I might have said.
I appreciate peoples support but I don't ever want it to come at the cost of another. This is a great community and this subject never should have strayed, that was my fault. I will keep all future posts to stock photography.

Thanks,
AVAVA
