I've been going through the guidelines from a few sites. They all offer basic guidelines.

I am wondering about interiors that would usually require a property release. Would they still need a release if the DOF blurred out significant details? (e.g. an office, where you could make out it is an office but could not see detail on items.)

I realize this would probably be subjective and different with various agencies, but I was hoping to get a basic idea if it would be acceptable.

that is a hard one, pretty much I believe you can do that (many do so) but you may run into trouble if the owner recognizes and contacts agency etc, I guess you won't run into trouble 99% of the times but playing safe is the best way IMO

I remember Sean once saying you dont need a PR for interiors, unless there is some significant item that needs a release, like a painting on the wall.

I'm sure I read that. If I remember correctly, he was talking about what is legally needed. The agencies seem to want more than what's needed.

Hi All,

For what it's worth in the Macro industry like Getty Corbis, Masterfile, etc. you must have a property release for any images shot on location that is owned by a private party or your images will end up in Editorial providing much smaller sales than in their Commercial selection. Just thought I would add that to the conversation. As far as Micro agencies go it might differ between agencies but I can safely say that is the method in Macro, Micro might be starting to follow this standard as well. Best of luck

If the interior is blurred out so it is unrecognizable you should be OK

the unrecognizable is quite subjective and there resides the issue, the owner of the place will always know unless it is very OOF
