I have used some models from the Daz 3D store as reference images for some illustrations on SS. They did accept the render and an explanation as enough before but have now stopped accepting the images (jpegs not vectors, they still seem okay with it for vector illustrations). Is there a specific release I should be filling out or has there been a policy change? The standard property release clearly states "to be used for real or personal property" so I don't think it's that one? (I thought about filling it out with my name as the "authorized" person as I am the license holder/ purchaser of the license from Daz 3D.

I am sure that the license covers the use so no problem there.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

I haven't uploaded anything last couple of months... sometimes happened to me, but rarely. You got rejected just for couple of renders or for all of them lately? If it is silhouette, try to upload same image with some lights (not silhouette) as property release, it usually worked for me.

Once I uploaded screenshot of wireframe on AS, they kept asking for model release for one figure :), it worked fine, maybe would be OK for SS too.

Thanks Lina, it is silhouettes in larger images. That is what I was doing too but recently been getting rejected. Back to the drawing board I guess!

Hmmmm....do you mean you copy somebody else's Daz models for your illos?

I would have thought that was a BIG no-no.

Your work must be all your own. You might have a licence to use the Daz model, but unless you created it, then you are not the copyright holder. It does say real or private purposes in any case. Turning it into a stock illustration doesn't sound quite like what the owner has in mind.

Or am I misunderstanding? Did you create the original renders?

2D rendered output is fully copyrighted by the creator. If you need the legal details check the according licenses.

So message to the OP: don't use Daz renders unless they are your own.

No, You still don`t understand. Every DAZ render is your own. If someone uses DAZ Models and creates 2D renders with them the 2D renders are fully copyrighted by the creator of the 2D renders, not DAZ. It is the same as when you take a picture of a still life of a vase. The copyright of that image is yours unless there are other explicit restrictions.

...all that is known since YEARS and talked over quite a few times and this was not the question of the OP.

Correct, PZF misread I think. Jimbo means the creator of the 2D render, not the creator of the 3D model. I wouldn't use models "as is" (still feels a bit icky to me) but lots of people do, they are all over micro, and it's fine legally (check with Daz directly if you like!). I use them as reference images for poses and the like (one of the intended purposes of Daz 3D).
