Hi guys, Sorry if the question had been answered before; I'm quiet new to stock photography. Simple question: Is it required to blank the license plates from cars and motor bikes for submission as an editorial image? Are all agencies require the same? Because it looks often very 'unnatural' when I do so. If yes, are you just blur it, or remove all numbers completely? Thank you

An editorial image has no material changes.  So, no.

You can send altered editorial images to Alamy. You used to have to indicate this but now you don't, so I'm surmising that not many buyers were interested. (I haven't uploaded Live News for a while, maybe these need to be unaltered [?])
It's a personal decision as to whether you blur out or blank out number plates, I don't but I know that some togs choose to, for various reasons.
Like Sean says, on many other sites you can't alter editorial images. You'd need to check the terms and conditions of whichever sites you upload to.

Thanks for your replies. To make it clear, it is not not that I WANT to clear the license plates. It is only, that I do not want to get any rejections because of NOT removing it. So can I leave the license plates unaltered for editorials on all sites then?

Try to upload some unaltered pictures to your agencies and check which one accept or reject them. So you can now balance if it's worth your effort to remove the numbers

Shutterstock rejects altered editorial. Alamy accepts them in some cases (as ShadySue said). Others don't care. So the easiest thing is to NOT remove licence plates.

Although sometimes I ask myself: what if I capture something or someone that I shouldn't? Lovers, criminals, Her Majesty's secret service agents? Will they come after me and kill me? Is it worth it for a few cents? Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Yes, leaving them in, I think, is a privacy thing. But then Im paranoid too. As has been said, each site typically has different rules.
