Title: Search by geography
Post by: leaf on November 28, 2008, 07:24
When is a microstock site going to have the option to search by geography.  To be able to click on a map and see all the pictures for sale from a certain area?  More and more people are getting into geotagging and so they will have their images tagged with gps coordinates so it should be so difficult to just extract that from the exif info??

or maybe there is a site already doing this and i have just missed it?

Getty has been making us add the location of even our studio shots into their key words. They want the location of every shot now I wonder if that couples into what you are saying. I never understood the need for some buyer to now that my studio work was shot in Edmonds, Wa as a key word.

always used to put location in but got too many rejections for irrelevant keywords, even for images where I thought it was needed ie australian outback, australian animals etc. so now I dont put in unless it is an icon like sydney harbour bridge / parliament house in canberra.  however I see older shots which have location sell in a group (esp on subs) and the only real connection is the location.
