I've received an email from [email protected] which is entitled Separate Remittance Advice: paper document number ...
I'm just below that payment threshold of $100 at $96.55
But the email seems to be about a payment of $96.57 with a Payment Number and Invoice Number.
Does anyone have any ideas about this strange email?

You always get one of those emails when they’re about to pay you, so you should receive your money shortly.

This relates to my iStock account but I'm below the payment threshold of $100 so why would they be about to pay me?

You answered your own question in the first message.

You'll see an invoice and a payment amount. I get these about once a year. I forgot why. But they are paying you.
Getty FAQ says:
"Will I receive a remittance notice when a payment has been made?
Yes, at the time of payment we will send a notification to the email address we have on file in your account profile."
Here's an older thread with the same question. https://www.microstockgroup.com/flickr/getty-remitted-my-payment/ (https://www.microstockgroup.com/flickr/getty-remitted-my-payment/)
It's real it's from Getty.

I still can't work this out.
Why are they paying me if I haven't reached the payment threshold?
Are just a bit flexible when you get within a few dollars of the threshold?

Senior memory but it's something outside of the normal channels and payment stream. AKA Free Money!

Very weird!
But if they pay me $96.57 I won't be complaining.

I had that a few times back in the day, not long after I'd started submitting to them. I can't remember the exact numbers, dates or my reasoning, but I had an assumption that they don't pay you if it's less than $100, as advertised, but they do pay you if it's less than $100 if you've been under $100 for a few payment dates. I could be completely wrong.
