Are the friends here also experiencing the low volumes of sales on various stock sites. August was better and for september, just 2-3 sales only. Past one week is absolutely silent. Is it just a normal tide or the numbers are hitting real hard this time.  I have 700+ on 123rf, 650+ on DP,  109 on FT, 92 images on DT and similar numbers on other sites.

My sales are around what they were two months ago, despite uploading more files. I was hoping things would take off this month.

Just keep uploading and looking for new ideas and the $$ will come... ;)

its a relatively small portfolio to have much consistent in terms of sales (very small portfolio at DT and FT), have you tried getting into SS? read that you were going to have a 3rd chance on August 19th

My last batch at SS for initial application was rejected with "incorrect keywords and titles". I am going to try it again.

Funny, right before seeing this thread, I was thinking that if the first 10 days are any indication, Sept could be my new BME.

looks to be panning out to be average but Dreamstime all my sales are .35 which has never happen before thus another low end company that use to pay around $1 per download...

Canstock seems to be pricing fairly. It sells some but it sells for good price. Dreamstime  a big name but the lowest performer of the deck. For the views and sales, the numbers are appropriate for FT. DT suffers from the disparity between views and the sales.

Your post on Fotolia on August 27, 2013, 12:06 "No, Fotolia is still in the toilet. " suggests otherwise.  If you are doing good within next 10 days, that is a good news and certainly encouraging. I am yet to experience that kind of success.

Mine are showing an uptick for September, after an epically dismal summer.

Wow, I didn't think people watched what I wrote so closely!  Good sleuthing.

But what I wrote on Aug 27 was true... Fotolia has been a huge disappointment lately for me.

What I posted this morning is also true.  Overall, my Sept has a chance at being my BME... even considering lackluster sales on FT (which are a bit better today than they were on Aug 27... of course, we're out of summer now, so increases everywhere are to be expected!)

Stockmarketer, your success is an indicator of good times ahead. Inspirational and encouraging to go ahead. Going by your posts on FT and other threads, I can guess you have pretty large portfolio across the sites. My hypothesis points that it is a volume driven market. Here volume is everything. Pure numbers beat any theory and sometimes it goes in reverse order as well like with DT.  Nothing beats the volume.

I produced 700+ images so far in 2013. My target is 1500+ when this year ends. May be I am judging the market too early. Geared to go long and with patience.

September did get off to a slow start for me but I'm not bothered.  I'll see what happens for the entire month.  There's often a slow couple of weeks followed by a much better couple of weeks that makes the overall month much better.

Sept will be mu worst month of the year at this rate.  I would need a strong second half to compensate for the lousy first half.

I've had a horrible first half of the month and I have a portfolio of about 2000 photos on all the major sites: it will be the worst month in few years with istock and dreamstime coming in especially low. It's weird since my sales this year have been fairly consistent each month. I'm sure things will tick up for the rest of the month.

Slow so far in Sept for DT & 123RF, continuing decline for iS since they rejiggered things in June, but headed for a BME for SS, thanks to on demand and single & other sales (including a nice $78 single and other).

thepoeticimage, your FT portfolio is great. You have shot great images. Liked the way you think about images. Your images are very natural and full of life.  Inspiring as well.

Last week was picking up a bit, and this week's Mon-Wed. NB, only 'picking up a bit' not 'good'.
But suddenly I find myself in my fourth successive day with 0 dls on iS (i.e. two successive non-holiday weekdays with no sales), and I'm sure (but the site is so slow I'm not going back over the Stats to check) that hasn't happened outside my first few months when I had almost no files online.
It doesn't seem to be best match (other than new files sinking like stones, but that's been for many months now); I'm still pretty sure in my case it's Collections.

Worst month in a very long time.   SS is dead in the water - a huge change from previous months.

I am noticing ZERO activity at FT, DT, CS, BS etc.  ZERO new views,ZERO sale. Only exception for now is DP by very slim margins. Is there any undercurrent for present times which we are not able to understand?

yes I think it feels a little slow. FT and DT are super slow, with some piddly loose change sales only. iS and SS tracking for the same as last month.

It's a bit comforting that most of us are having a very bad month. But I'd rather have "every one is having BME"...

Does anyone have any clue why the sales are so bad? Summer vacations are over, the economy is slowly picking up (both in US and Europe). Of course there is the old over supply argument, but something has clearly happened after May.

it is not the over supply argument, that is the cause. perhaps it is combined with a few other factors such as economy etc, but the reality is that microstock is starting to cannibalize itself as it did previously with the macro stock sites. total lack of editing by the micros, allowing anybody to be a 'pro', has put us all in the situation we are all in. and it won't end soon, if anything the spiral will continue. the good news is that with all the over saturation of imagery at pathetic pricing that keeps getting lowered to 'compete' the agencies responsible have never been more profitable as they get the sale regardless. the agencies could care less about you as a contributor. you can't put the genie back in the bottle.
