No sales (downloads) in (8) days now on Shutterstock. First this morning hundreds of files in my portfolio were missing just like other photographers and now No Sales and counting. I had (3) sales on Bigstock which were small. Anyone else having this happen to them or do you think it is a glitch and I should write support? Thanks

Sorry, No sales in Eight Days Now.

Sounds like the way Microstock is going these days :o
I'm getting some but nothing spectacular and mainly subs
-
I would have written to support after one day.
-
Happening to me. Was doing great and then bam, 0 and more 0 days. Selling elsewhere.
-
Extremely slow August here too... :(
-
Sorry, No sales in Eight Days Now.
Sorry for you.
After a disastrous July my sales have turned to regular now.
I have even more sales than usual during the week-end.
All this make me think that something is going wrong with your portfolio.
8 days without a sale on Shutterstock is absolutely not normal, even with a bad little portfolio (and I am sure that your portfolio is not one of these).
You should contact Shutterstock about that.

Sorry, No sales in Eight Days Now.
How many images do you have in your portfolio? If you could provide us with a link perhaps we could have a better idea where you could improve.
-
Thank you all. I am back on track now. I had some sales tonight. Oscar Williams

Funny how when you ask to see their portfolio their sales came back- like magic 8)
-
Someone on Facebook said their images went "missing" in their portfolio the other day. Maybe this could have been the problem?
-
From Shutterstock on Twitter
-
::) ::) ::) understatement of the month
-
I wrote them....sales started up again.
-
The issue isn't resolved still. They say tht both customer and contributor side are affected.
I hope its not any malware attack, fingers crossed.
-
Same here, SS has been dead for a few days now. Should i also drop in a mail to get sales back on track?

I hope that explains total drop in sales.
-
Last night, a lot of images temporarily disappeared from our portfolios, so that could explain the slow sales today.
I have noticed something about the Microstock market though, but it could just be the summer slump. Sales on FT are 10-15% lower than normal for the last couple months, but I've been able to maintain a higher weekly position than I did in May. I think the entire industry is seeing a slow down.
I hope it doesn't stick. September will give us a better look at what's going on in the Microstock industry.

Fotolia slow for me too but rating not really affected also the minnow sites are extremely poor for me.

I'm only on a couple of those and sales are down as well. 123RF being a top tier agency has seen a 35% drop from May and a 20% drop from June. August is on pace for July numbers.
When the kids are back to school, the education market will pick up again. Parents should be done with their vacations and our sales hopefully go back up to normal levels.

RF123 dropped like a stone for me like you hoping its seasonal rather than something worse.

SS: the total number of images sold is great, the number of "on demands" zero. Many "single and others", but only in cents. Did they wipe out the "on demands"?

As my good friend Josephine would say, "There is a group of people in this forum, who comment every topic every blessed day. Why would anybody spent this much time for nothing, especially those who continuously talk about their dropping sales. "

Touche :D

I have just got a lot of sales on Shutterstock in few minutes (10 times more than usual) 10 minutes ago.
I am not very happy when I have not a lot of sales, but when they are so much more than usual I always suspect that somebody is buying them to built on his own portfolio…
Yes Josephine "a raison", there is always a good reason to lament :p

Well, here we are in August and my downloads are still completely horrible. I'm talking single dollars a day with almost 5,000 assets. Yesterday: $7. Nothing for me is recovering, so whatever they did to the search seems to be permanent. Third straight month of significant loss with SS.

The majority (including myself) of can relate to this :-\

Yeah, I can relate. I had a great May / June and horrible July with August improving slightly. Anyway, as Steve Heap has commented lately on his blog:
Whereas in the past you could have argued that your portfolio would continue to earn money year after year, and new images would add to that income, the new normal now seems to be that you work each year to add new images just to keep your income about the same. For the effort involved, it is still nice money – especially if you like photographing things and places – but the business model does seem to have changed along the way.
I can see soon when it will new material so you will only earn a little bit less each month!
I'm looking for opportunities elsewhere in Midstock and fine art, also learning footage, including getting a new drone soon.

Stop whine :D
i ve no sells since few years, BUT i was only on fotolia/istock with irregular upload. Now i m working seriously on this problem. But ZERO view since 4 days on fotolia :O, this is matching with the end of the forum?

Good luck with the Drone! Too many restrictions in the U.S. to even bother with them now. All Federal parks off-limit and most State and City parks off limits.

SS: the total number of images sold is great, the number of "on demands" zero. Many "single and others", but only in cents. Did they wipe out the "on demands"?
As Founder and CEO Jon Oringer said, "We continued to make solid operational progress in the second quarter. We've built better technology, reorganized our talent, improved pricing and packaging and have acquired or launched assets that we believe will define the future of this business.
If you take a look at the improved pricing and packaging you will find that Jon Oringer has shafted you good and proper. In British pounds On Demand 5 images for £29, Subscription 10 images for £29, or On demand 25 images for £139, Subscription 350 for £119, which do you think the buyers are going to go for?

It's pure business. We can either accept their pricing model or remove our personal images. There really isn't a lot of options for Micro-stock contributors.

Yes obvious, but true, but then again you can only make those limited decisions if you have the information at hand and as Shutterstock had not informed Josephine that they were shafting her I felt obliged out of the goodness of my heart to let her know.

@obj owl million thanks for your info!

Yep. Its why I just gave my practice drone away. I was learning how to use it until all these restrictions. Just not worth the investment to me.

They also have 1 billion population.
I'm looking at taking it to some remote parts of Brazil where there's few people and stunning landscapes. Worst case scenario just bribe a cop (50 reais or $25 is the usual price these days)!

Did the download problem arrived again?
I was getting downloads which suddenly stopped 4-5 hrs back.
-
YES!!!

I've been stuck on the same sum since 9 this morning and I thought Oh boy this is the new SS all over not surprised! then comes Alamy from nowhere with a $ 294 sale saving the day! pugh!!
I spoke to an x-employee of SS late last night I've known him long before SS came on the scene used to work in the old film-agencies and he did not give a pretty picture and I'm actually surprised we are earning any money at all. :-\

And Enstoker stated this as well- seems to be a lot of inside info coming to us...
"Important insider news from an insider in inside of SS:
Sells will start on August 29th.
And it will be GREAT month!
FOR SURE BME !
As I already mentioned, VERY important news!"

Can I hold you to the August 29th date? (please say yes...)
