This is the first time ever that I won't make the $35.00 min Payout for this month of September--2017.  I am sadden.

Everyones income has been slashed, slashed, slashed.
Microstock is pretty much a waste of time nowadays. Whereas before, contributers could swallow the piddly subscription rates because volume sold was good, now there really is no incentive to put the time and effort in to upload.

No, I think it has been Shutterstock's policy to sadden contributors for a good while now.

My earnings are down 60%, but I have stopped submitting anything substantial for a while now. There is just no motivation. But not submitting doesnt help my earnings either.

I continue to submit, and the new images don't sell a lot.
But my hold images sell better than before

So, is the solution to sell more old images to upload new ones?

(And one day my new images will become old maybe)

Ever? On your first few months you started uploading and they started selling right away (>$35/50)?

I did not exceed $ 100 three months ago in SS. What will happen?
Is there a lot of images?
Are there more photographers working in this business?
Buyers no longer buy photos?
There are more banks of images in the market?
Is the business dying or changing?
I do not say anything ... but I wonder !!!
Last year I sold twice as many pictures on the same date.
Regards.

If you did not reach even 35$ payout at ss, regarding all the problems related with microstock industry, most probably your portfolio is ether too old, too small, or low/poor quality, or combination of any of these.

Oscar has almost 6000 files and can't make $35 minimum? I have under 3000 and make $75 a month on SS. There are probably others with less that make more than me. Not to point at Oscar but all the people who ask how many photos to make $ a month. It's not how many it's how good are they for the market.

Time to look at ourself not blame the agency when we don't have the sales we want. Times changed and competition has become larger. Our images need to have a message, not just some friend leaning on a tree or close up smiling.
