Wouldn't it be easier if good, not great uploads just got accepted the first time around!

With that said, I uploaded a sound effect 3 times before it was accepted. It was good, not great, it was a common sound, nothing special.

The same reviewer rejected it twice, then got lucky on the 3rd different reviewer who accepted it. Long story short, this clip has sold 4 times in 3 days, so I made $20 and so did the stock company!

Why did that reviewer reject $$$? If they don't want their cut, I am happy to take it!

why accept something they already have a an overabundance of? and the buyer would have downloaded it from someone else, the agency wouldnt lose any money rejecting your stuff,

its a bit narcissistic thinking that without your bog standard clips the agency would lose out on sales

Reasons for rejection: storage space, upholding the overall quality standard of their collection, preventing oversupply.
And if you're so happy to keep their cut to yourself, all you need to do it sell it on your own website. Good luck getting traffic and paying customers, though.

I'm not aware any Microstock site rejects images for those reasons these days unless the quality is extremely poor. I used to get LCV rejections from a few, normally images that went on to sell elsewhere.

;) It's really not about the rejection or sales, nor is it about being a bit narcissistic. It is about who decides what is good and not good. Are they capable of making that decision? Well obviously, since they have the job they are doing, but we may not agree, so keep trying.....and forget what they think. My photos, sound, video clips won't make or break Stock companies or myself.

A few examples I have learned over the years and not photography related, but life in general.

Did George Lucas sell Star Wars immediately or did he get booted several times, but did not quit! If he quit, we would not have Star Wars and maybe he would have settled building sets. Doesn't matter if you like or dislike Star Wars, it's the point!

I wrote a script about 10 years ago and got thrashed on every screen writing table site, every international screen writers site you can imagine. I found an agent who decided to take on my script and promote it, after about two years he said to me "nothing more I can do, however, don't give up". 4 years ago, I sold my script for a ridiculous amount of a lot of money, not the $2 million, Abrams sold Forever Young for, his first script for but not far off. Will it ever become a movie? They say chances are not great, but possible.

If you think you have something good, keep at it! Don't listen to the buffoons who do nothing or talk a big show or think they know what they are doing because that is their job they were hired for.

And by the way.......Not whining or complaining, not being narcissistic, just making a point I hope someone can learn from and thrive!

Yes. Your words are very useful. You just know how the internet is going. I am very grateful to each of your words.

Thanks friend. We may not get much. But we tried. Here, it is better not to talk too much. They absorb your energy.

They are waiting for someone with joy, who enjoys the sun, life, to write something. Then, they stop observing, to launch themselves in free flight at the neck of a victim from above. I think that by not selling files, their goal is the forum's like as a daily dose to sleep better.

What? Tenebroso is gone? And I made a special graphic just for his writings. I'm disappointed.

not really, since LCV rejections will never show whether they've left money on the floor  - since reviewers themselves can neither agree nor describe how they reach their decisions, any agency that allows them is throwing money away.

most of the reviewing is a joke once one reaches a certain technical level.  X agency rejects-- all others approve, then another rejected by Y which is accepted everywhere else including X... and then Z...
and the image sells on the agencies that id not reject it so.....  when one has great techical skills, one can see the reason for rejection was bogus.  Just move on and let the others sell it.

Just having some fun with the concept and phrase you used to describe incomprehensible rambling. It could be anyone not just one person. (some days it could be me?) Yeah just what we need is another forum, another blog, another youtube channel about stock photography.  ;)

And I appreciate the other interesting views of this.

Here's mine at this stage of the game. They can take or refuse whatever they want, it's their agency. I just can't be concerned or care anymore at this point. Sure I'd like more exposure and maybe more sales, but they run the game and they make the rules. I upload see what happens, move on. I really don't have any world changing images and I also do some plop and shoot or inspirational snapshots, and I really don't get LCV rejections that often. I can't remember the last one, it's been so long.

My rejections are more often, technical, artifacts, or intellectual property. I did get a couple of these from Adobe last year: "Unfortunately, we found that it doesn't meet our needs so we can't accept it into our collection." I suppose that's a LCV rejection? Sure don't get that from SS, DT or Alamy?
