Interesting concept but price is $1,00 for any image size and use?

For now, yes. We want to keep it simple and be a no brainer choice. Most 3D artist don't need high res anyway.

We might make the $1 offer for small sizes later on and introduce a $2 price for full res.

lol $2 is as abysmal as $1

I don't even submit to established agencies for that price..

I no longer submit to istock, but when I was, even when it was my best earner 3 years ago, I used to delete files that they priced at $1 without a second thought..

anything less than $7-8 for original size is a disgrace imo..

I agree for most stock content. Textures for use in 3D etc. is not comparable to concept and model shots. $1-2 is IMO a fair price for textures. And textures sell comparably well, so the comparison makes no sense.

I shoot for stock sites myself. My first stock photo was of a basic white brick wall. That was six years ago and that photo is to this day my best selling one by a factor of ten! Only a small crop of my current portfolio is of textures, but they make up the majority of my income. So I believe there is a basis for a site like The Texture Store.

I sell a lot of textures at good price on different sites.
So why should I loose time to upload on a site that will sell my images 1 or 2 $?

Too bad. I thought at first when I saw that there is a texture agency opening up that I can finally get high quality, high resolution textures (7000x7000+ seamless textures including diffuse, bump, opacity, specular etc. maps).

I guess this would be the wrong place...

so if they sell so well why the need to price them so low? just because they are easy to shoot and edit, doesn't mean they should be cheaper. really, texture or bg shots help offset the time spent on other work.

I agree that $1 is just too low, and you've got package deals there too, making them even cheaper. You could have started at $2 per image with zero difference in buyers' minds.

@OP:
I can't seem to find your licence use document.
Are these textures available to use commercially, i.e. that someone can buy them and use them for commercial use, e.g. to produce a 3D stock image?
(Don't jump on me, everyone, I'm only asking for clarification.)

Absolutely legit question. I'm wondering about the same thing as well.

I agree with the people that say the prices are too low. I have a lot of textures in my portfolio and would be happy to upload them to you website, but not for these prices...I've had enough of websites paying you nothing for your work.

The biggest mistake a new business can make (for that matter, even an established one) is to price their goods too low. Just research all failed microstock startups.

Most content will likely be only diffuse maps. Your example would be categorized and prized differently.

Only a small crop of my current portfolio is of textures, but they make up the majority of my income.

And now you're looking for ways to shrink that part by lowering prices... Interesting concept...  :o

No, I'm not. Most textures are sold at lower res at commission at other sites typically range from 0.25 to 1.00. The Texture Store is offering 0.50.

I do a lot of 3d art. and to suggest that  a good texture is easy to make is very wrong. small textures that tile need to be very well produced or the just look like tiles. large textures need to be very large and pin sharp. the best textures are made up of lots of pictures for things like bump, opacity, secular level ,gloss level etc. These textures can take days to produce. If you only sell textures you will need the good stuff as well. A lot of people will be ok with you selling their photos where all they did was point a camera at a brick wall. I do not think you will get the quality work you need to make your site a one stop for textures.

So 0,50 for full size is not lower than "from 0,25 to 1,00 for lower res"?

Is this how you do your math in everyday life????

if everyone who bought ktools/photostore script started an agency, the list on the right would have exploded..

at least customize it enough and pay for the unbranded upgrade, so it looks more professional and front end user don't realize it's a ready made script..

you didn't even have your license ready, and you are posting a link here..

there are already too many fails.. it's fail, fail and fail!

fails are all over the place..

you don't have "one" single aspect that is going for you..

Seriously, your wording isn't even professional.

"If you do textures and backgrounds you can sell you stuff on the store."
