If you guys had a reasonable amount of money saved, say between $100,000 - $500,000, is there some other type of photography related business/job you would start? If so, how much would you hope to earn yearly?

I'd invest in an index fund.

Invest in an index fund, retire from my day job, and start a travel photography business. My goal would be to keep losses down enough that I wouldn't run out of money before I die. I'd have to be at the $500K end of the range. 8)

If you are REALLY good at something and enjoy it and have good business skills go for that but be honest with yourself if you are average or only slightly better the stock market etc would be a better bet the photography business is tougher than ever I think

If I had that much I wouldn't bother with a photography business and certainly not microstock
I'd do it for pleasure

If Trump's hotels were publicly owned, I'd short that stock, big time.

I would take the $500,000 and build a time machine. I would then charge $100,000 per photographer to send them back to the 1990's when stock photographers earned seven figures annually.
