Title: SS vs Adobe performance
Post by: Unamas on July 14, 2023, 16:38
It's a first time for me that I made more money on Adobe than on SS during first 15 days of months. Adobe usually lead during a first few days of a month, but today is July 14, and Adobe still ahead.

Even taking into account port size difference, Shutterstock is well ahead of Adobe so far this month.

Adobe started outperforming SS for me sometime around the beginning of the year, but this month is extreme:  I have made 4.6x as much on Adobe than on SS so far. Heck, I even made more on Dreamstime than on SS this month.

Yes, Adobe is my best earning agency this year so far too, and by quite a margin.
And that's rather remarkable because my portfolio there is a lot smaller due to missing out on regular editorials which are not accepted at Adobe.

Shutterstock earnings really tanked, and the main reason for that, for me, is the drastic decrease in bigger sales.
In other words: amount of sales stayed on par, but the RPD went down drastically.

I have more downloads now on AS than SS, but since I never have big EL's or SOD's on AS, SS still wins on earnings most months.

Well, last month, Adobe revenue leapt ahead of Shutterstock revenue with the $5 payments for the free collection plus a $66 sale.

This month, the 'empire' struck back with a $192.10 sale.

So my historical ratio of revenue - SS around 65% and Adobe around 35% - continues to hold true.

i've only had one  month in past 2 years where AS outperformed SS often by factor of 2 (tho the $5 has closed the gap)

my SS port is 2x AS, mostly because AS doesn't accept editorial. they also, have a tougher review, even tho their rejects sell on SS. another large factor is as rejects a series of very different images as similars because they were taken at the same time.

I think it's better to offer buyers a choice among images rather than trying to guess which one they like. I'd rath er have 5 images w 2 sales each than 1 image with 7 sales

my DT port is 50% more than AS but only about 25% of income

A bit too long on SS - no sales at all during last 7 days, usually I get one-two clips sold in 3 days more or less; Adobe - stills and clips sold as usual.

SS is drying up, Adobe is about 10x more monthly revenue.

slow month for all agencies -- but AS is still just 60% of AS, and , since canva payments lag by a month, both canva & SS usually surpass AS

same for me as what other people are seeing.  i'm fairly new but got decent traction in june and early july.  now my SS sales are pretty much dead and AS is slowing down.  actually picking up a bit on istock even though my portfolio there is tiny.  take it all with a grain of salt as i'm talking single digit numbers here.
