Does anyone understand why Shutterstock's stock (SSTK) has surged 13% today, 31% in the last 30 days, 44% in the last 3 months?
I have some Shutterstock shares and have made a nice small profit. I'm trying to understand why Shutterstock is still doing really well, or even better than before, despite the entrance of Adobe stock.

A Google ad deal?

Or the earlier inclusion in the SmallCap 600?

I think the big reaction today is to the google deal, as the S&P inclusion happened a few weeks ago.
Does anyone understand the google deal and what it means? Is this like their facebook deal?

someone is creating a buy with some unrealistic earning index to boost the price before setting down on a quick sell-out to take profit.
it's an old trick by insiders and astute speculators.

Thanks everyone!

Question is: does one sell off now or does one keep the stock? I am unsure what to do.

How much time before we will see some appreciable effect/result?

Maybe put in a stop loss order for a few dollars below the current price, then move it up as the price increases. That way you will sell if it drops but still lock in most of your profits and allow for upward momentum if it keeps rising.
The U.S stock market is at a record high right now - I didn't see that one coming.

If anyone could answer that with any certainty they'd be very very rich. More than most Tech stocks can be way overpriced but then again look how much Msoft paid for the mutual backslapping waste of space that is linkedin

yes, but that has nothing to do with ss type of stocks. it relates to BOA holding rates down
until next yr 2nd qtr. it also has a bit to do with Brits and EC. but more to do with resources
stocks and the US currency.

Motley Fool says the gain was because of the Google deal

This article reports something similar, but refers to the Adobe rivalry growing. Problem is, other than saying that Adobe's library is 50 million and it's stock was up 0.4% today versus SS 14.2%, it didn't say how the rivalry was growing

Since I bought at 60, I'm holding, lol.

This article says that the images are selected automatically based on keywords

And I asked SS support what we'd be paid and what the buyer received. See what they told me here (http://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/ss-goggle-deal/msg458837/#msg458837).

That's interesting think SS may have to look at their keyword control and possibly QC or advertisers will be irate about the relevance of the images I think though its a can be rather than will. It seems to me also to imply if the ad underperforms the image will change so could prove lucrative?
