Hi-ho,

Just wondering what type of info you put on your general website if you have one, about microstof photography, and which sites do you link to from the page?

I'm doing some work on my own website (http://cpix.co.nz) adding a blog, and some other misc bits, and thought I should put something on there, but I can't think of exactly how I'd word it...

Looking for inspiration. :-).

Cheers, Me.

yeah that is a tough one.  I have chosen not to put any links or info on my professional website, because i think it would just confuse people.  If they look at my professional site and see the prices for wedding packages for example, then look at the microstock photography prices they might think i should charge $5.00 to cover a wedding.

I think there is still a lot of confusion and 'looking down' upon the micros as an unserious business venture and those who are doing the micro stock are 'uninformed' beginners.  I'd rather not mix that with a studio business when i don't have to.

Look at Rinder's site.  He mixes the two I think.

If you did combine the two, I would make it clear the distinction between custom photogrpahy and bulk photography.

I'll bet at those prices, you would start a lot of happy relationships...  ;D

Yeah.....

That's partly why I've asked the question here..  I'm also unsure how to approach it to avoid the conflict between my editorial / commision work and micropayment stuff...

I do not have links to my microstock portfolio and don't plan to add them.  Like leaf, I want to keep those two avenues very separate.  I feel the purpose of your professional website is to showcase your work.  If you lead your viewers away from that to a microstock site where there are many other photographers and artists also displaying their work, it would 'muddy the waters'.

Nice website.

Stock images complements web design (from a buyers point of view) where as stock and prefessional photography are at two different ends of the spectrum (ie. selling a photo for $100s compared to $1s)

I have several sites. One microstock, one illustration and one site for photos/artwork that I've done for Metal bands. I don't mix them.

I don't have any links to microstock on my photography business webpage  -- like the PP, it might confuse clients and they want a "deal".
