I never though I'd see a file rejected ANYWHERE else being accepted at IS but it's happened.  IS (AR 35% being real picky about what I submit) have accepted an image rejected by FT (AR 95% on pretty much anything)  ???

'Different Strokes for different folks' -  Each MS Company has unique tastes and it is our job to figure out what they like and what they don't like.  Just like my three kids each on one has different preferences for dinner thus if I cook only one meal 2 out 3 will like it while the other kid will not even show up a the table. The good news is that I can make the one kids eat the dinner where I cannot make the MS Company take my pics lol!  :-*

You are lucky, I can manage to get images accepted at the micros, but I could NEVER get my daughter to eat anything she didn't like!

I don't think it's that neatif I could be so bold with that definition  :o. In my opinion, it's not the company. It's almost always the reviewer. There is no logic or taste from what I've found (especially with istuck). Submit one good one to site A and they reject it as low commercial value. Resubmit with no changes in a week or two and site A accepts it.

I retouch and submit 100's per month for a photographer and do my own illustrations. I just don't see any rhyme or reason to any of them. Nothing is consistent except the reviewer's mood or idea of what he/she thinks the company desires.

I agree. Case in point. My themes are consistant. Recently DT rejected a large batch of submissions. A good 80% rejected. It shock my confidence and I swore I'd limit my submission maximum to 5 until it was reviewed. Trouble was it takes so long to get DT to review that I had another stockpile sitting on my drive....so I closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and submitted 80 in one batch. And wouldn't you know it, 80%+ were accepted. And again...I do landscape and unusual subjects. That batch was no different from everything else I was submitting.

It's the reviewer.

When you get 29 out of 30 rejected and you have a 70% acceptance rate....it's the reviewer.

I have to wonder what percentage of reviewing is outsourced (in one sense or another) and what the turnover rate is.   I get the impression of constantly changing pool of subcontractors and temps, getting emails every other week with the latest changes to the acceptance criteria.

But the sites hire and fire the reviewers.  It should be easy to have an alert when someone that has a 70% acceptance rate gets 29 out of 30 rejected.  That's almost certainly a bad job by the reviewer, so why can't they get rid of the bad reviewers and automatically put the images back in the queue?  I think its because they have so many images now that they don't care.  It's not just DT, I've had some strange reviews from most of the sites that I think they could easily flag up and sort out without me having to send support an email and them having to waste time replying.

I agree.  A quality system that doesn't have consistency is not a quality system and THAT is the site's responsibility.  I happen to think that the IS approach to the kind of stuff I do is misguided but it is their approach and they are pretty consistent.  FT on the other hand pick one occasionally to reject seemingly at random and usually something much better than a lot of what they accept.

i can (and often do) threaten to withdraw my (mum) services. That seems to work. Not sure what threats I could use with the micros.
