Title: Style and niches

Hi to the forum.  This is my first post, so please bear with me.

I've heard, on this forum and others, the importance of "style", usually meaning a niche of subject matter.  Right now I'm in a quandry about this.  I've always shot a wide variety of subjects from near-macro, land and city-scapes, people and food for example.  I have dabbled in micro-stock, selling a number of photos but never getting serious about the venue.  Soon I will be moving permanently to Central America and would like to be far more serious about shooting my new area. 

If I continue as I have always done it would be quite a wide stretch to photograph "Central American Culture".  But then again, I don't want to be too restricted, either.  I'm familiar with the area and know there are wonderful photographic opportunities in many categories.  Is anyone here experienced with shooting in Latin America on an on-going basis, particularly Honduras?  I search the stock sites and find mostly computer-generated illustrations and a couple well-known tourist sites such as Copan and Roatan.  Almost nothing about the people, customs, food and culture.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   :)

Im from Panama and i took many places here, so i think there is good things in Honduras to shoot.  But anywhere you are you might find something potential for stock.

Well, I suppose the question is:  what are any thoughts on general photos as opposed to a tighter niche category, and any opinions on the potential for Hispanic-related stock.

I'd split some accross RM and RF and see what works best.

What in fact are you asking us?  if there is a nieche in travel/country photography? the only person I know who turned travel photography into a nieche/style, was a Spanish photographer and friend of mine called Fransisco-Hidalgo, during 70 and 80s. Since then his style has been copied many times.

I would definitely try RM for these files as qwerty said, though you could try a FEW at the micros. It might not be that the demand for these images is strong enough to offset the low prices. But you never know, maybe there's an untapped market.
