Hey yalls,

I'm looking to upload to a few new sites. Its been a while since I checked on who is doing well and who is not...

I do 3d and vector primarily. Who is good for uploading on these subjects (you know, so my time is justified with sales)

I have only had my portfolio online for about two weeks and the sales are slowly rolling in. Still a bit early to call but looks like one of those sites that will give you regular sales but don't expect to retire with the income generated!  ;D

Browse images and sort by downloads. Check out the sales and views for the most downloaded file. You should be able to draw some conclusions from that. There are a couple of other threads here about that site.

Don't draw hasty conclusions, though. Vectorstock is expanding very steadily and the download ranking (compared to other sites) is way above the "up and coming" bunch. Way above.

p.s.: I'm sure for some even qualifies to the "big six".
p.p.s.: An advice: send in vectors with their "batch upload" option. Uploading them singularly has improved (IPTC migration and loading times), but is still leaning on the timeconsuming side.

If you do 3D and vector you have probably checked out turbosquid, but if you haven't maybe you should (they do sell .ai files I think).

Hasty?
The most downloaded file had 85 downloads in April. Eight months later, it now has 221. That's an average of about 18 downloads a month. Nothing hasty about that.

Not saying the site is a machine gun sales-wise, but in my case it is in the big six of MSG. Right where iCock never took off.

p.s.: Leo, don't expect shooting stars, but VS sure does look promising.

Right where iCock never took off.

If you were expecting great sales with a vector portfolio of 15 images which consist of some of the most overdone subject matter on the site, with the largest amount of competition, then you were setting yourself up for disappointment.

Glad to hear that things are going better for you at vectorstock, though. You've definitely been able to get a lot of files online there. Good luck!

Never expected a dime from iCock (and it's not that I'm getting any... to say the truth);) Yes, it is because I have only +/-15 vectors up there. Correct, dude! Wow!

p.s.: I know you've been trying to dismiss my opinions about VS (via the dissing of my iS work), but I gladly accept your wishes. "Thanks"!

No, not at all. I was just pointing out that there is a LOT of competition on iStock and if you upload things that have many many many other files popping up in searches, it will be harder to be seen. Yours may even be better than the files that get downloaded, but if they can't be found in the flood, it won't matter. Think about what might set your images apart when a buyer is entering their search terms. If your keywords only generate search results that include thousands of other files, that will be a hard obstacle to overcome. I know there are so many because these subjects sell, but you gotta get really lucky to be seen.

I have no knowledge of vectorstock other than the numbers that I have seen posted on their site, so I can't say they are a good or bad match for anyone's goals. You will probably fare better with a very large portfolio there than you will with a very small portfolio on iStock, and I do wish you well!

Cheers!  :)

I do some Stock Illustrations, but also own a small Graphic Design company.

Vectorstock is GOLD for graphic designers... 1$ for good vector work... Need a quick image or background, save hour or hours works for 1$... Need large prints done, vectorstock it is... 1$...

As a contributor, getting .25$ per VECTOR download... not for me. Selling vectors with 5$ to 19.80$ in my pocket at CanStock... Istock also gives good payout on Vector. .25$ is what you get from XXSmal format JPG. Vector is worth more than that. As I contributor I will not put my portfolio online unless the payout is more interesting.

As a designer, I say, you go for it and make my day ! :p.

Just saying, if I see the same vector at iStock, Fotolia or Dreamstime, and also find it at Vectorstock, guess which one I will buy from? Yes, you got it right, here's your 25 cents! :)
