first week of august is almost over now,and I notice a dramatic drop in my sales all over.( especially on IS)I know it's summer time but I didn't expect it to be so bad in august as it usually is when my sales start to recover from summer slowdown.
I hope it'll pick up later on and hope you guy and girls are doing better then me?

One thing I have noticed recently is that every month started slow, but gained momentum towards the end. Thus far August is no exception.

Not really surprising, most graphics arts projects have deadlines that either coincide with the end of the month or go press during the month for availability at the end of the month. First week of the month everyones either recovering or scurrying on a delayed project.

Generally slow all round.

Good info to have Steve. I had noticed the pattern to but had now idea why. Thanks for the insight :)

thanks, I had noticed it too but also didn't know why... july ended well for me, 2nd best month ever... but this week has been the worst for me since first couple weeks of january.

I can't believe how poorly I am doing the first week in August. 3 straight days without sales at DT, 3 sales overall at IS. I've added about 40 images at Shutterstock this week and all I have are 13 sales today. I took a look back at my sales at Shutterstock this week last year, and they were higher with only 1/4 of the portfolio size.

Also bear in mind that micro subscribtions expiring at the end of a given month may create a small flurry of extra DL's

August started with a weekend, so it should start slowly this year. For me, it's been ok, except SS, which is a disaster, but that seems to be the trend with them.
I agree that there's often a boost at the end of them month. The majority of my ELs also comes around the last ten days.

Downloads have been slow for me, too. I've been thinking some of the slowdown might be due to the economy. With rising fuel costs and general inflation, people just aren't spending as much.

with rising fuel and cost, wouldn't people opt for cheaper alternatives such as stock photos? you are buying from the internet so that would cut down the fuel cost too. just my opinion
