Of course it's useful. I can't tell you how many times I've been up a tree or on top of a huge rock like that, and thought, "if only I had a tripod tall enough ...". I just hope it's reasonably priced, and they offer a 20 foot version, too.

I've seen old photos of old (wooden?) tripods being used by people filming from the back of an elephant.
But how about this for a tall tripod?
