It is not nice reading derogatory comments from anyone "them and us" ,"Macro vs Micro", "this site vs that site", as we are all photographers and should be united across all sites, each photographer make choices that we have to stand or sink by, they may suit at the time or we may not know of other sites or revenue avenues, and sometimes they are big mistakes, and these are often jumped on with an "I told you so" or a HaHaHa! post.
The challange is to see who can until midnight your local time Sunday, not post a derogatory answer or a unqualified comment towards another site or photographer.
So if a poster asks for advice instead of "Go Google it", post a helpfull link, when someone asks for help, instead of "HaHa we have all done that sometime", give a constructive helpfull answer.

like in digital photography, it's easier to have noise than no noise at all.

Guess I lost the challenge. ;)
It would be nice if photographers were united across the micro/traditional lines, but that's not going to happen any time soon. And I know I'm biased here, but I really do believe that the problem is all on the other side of the fence. You don't see a lot of trad bashing from the micro crowd, since we really don't have any issue with them. They tend to be hung up on the whole microstock killing the industry thing, so most of the stones seem to come from their direction. And I think that's how it will stay for a long time.

I tend to agree with you here. I ran across this on the internet quite awhile ago - can't rememeber where:
The parasitic sense of entitlement is a real problem for many industries. Fear of competition and excellence weakens all of us.
The wrong behaviour is to become a beggar claiming jurisdiction on the basis of some imagined right. This is the traits which has weakened many western industries and made them vulnerable to more hungry and harder working folk with more ambition and talent.
I found this the day after I was slammed by a local pro for considering putting stuff up on micro. It made me smile because it's the truth. To me it was a profound statement so I clipped and saved it. Failure of those stuck in the mud to understand new business models is a great detriment. I still shoot for macro, and I still shoot client commercial, but my fun little illlustrations have found a nice home on micro and now produce a nice little revenue stream. So while some on the trad side are whining and complaining, I'm making a little extra cash, having some fun, and learnng new skills all at the same time. I've learned to turn a deaf ear to the whiners. It's just wasted energy to keep bitching about it.

Actually I'd be happy not reading any conspiracy theories, rejection complaints (except the funny ones), how slow reviews are, or that sales are taking a dive, and not hearing how we should form a union or go on strike for higher wages. It's all part of the micro business. Live with it.
Sometimes pointing out the truth is necessary.
I don't see any us vs them, I just see people making personal decisions. As far as I can see, the sites are all pretty much the same, and have mostly the same photos, so there's nothing to argue about in that.
You can't legislate morality or understanding. Asking people to behave out of character is a nice idea, but it's not going to change anything.

There has always been a them-and-us debate. In general, I feel that as long as the information being brought forward is not slanted, skewed, hyped or otherwise and as long as its presented in a somewhat cordial manner then there is lots to be gained from hearing all comments: positive and negative. However, far too often the discourse dwindles into a your-mother-wears-army-boots yelling match, where nothing useful is discussed or if it is, is drowned out in the screaming and noise.
