January was my BME on AS, mainly Ai images + average video sales.

Zero Talent, do you upload videos to 123rf via FTP?

I use Stocksubmitter, not FTP, but I stopped uploading videos to 123RF long ago.

Highlights for my month:

- 3 book covers at Arcangel
- 3 decent clip sales at Pond5
- AS beat SS for first-time ever for me

Lowlights:

- Record low average RPD at SS
- Many images licensed by major publications where I earned <$10/each

Indeed AS was great in January. Best month on AS since 2018 (not counting the AI bonus from September 2023)  :)

Is there a way for a contributor to see what the exact amount of the "AI Bonus" was?

Never mind, figured it out!

AS appreciably better than January 2023
- Download +88%
- Revenue +107%

SS marginally better than January 2023 for downloads but better for revenue
- Download +3.6%
- Revenue +57%

SS still better than AS for revenue but AS is catching up fast.

12% less than Jamuary 24, 31% more than Feb 23.

I am disappointed

istock and a few smaller ones are still missing, but it won't change much.

Adobe was by far the strongest agency, but they are also the place that gets the most uploads.

Trying to process more videos for BB and pond5, hope that can help with diversification.

I am quite frustrated with spring/easter results. Although I can find my files in often very good search positions, sales are very slow. I mean I have daily sales for the genre but it is much less than I was expecting.

Will try to upload more non seasonal content to get more balance.

I had my best February ever overall which would be expected when you've uploaded some 1200 additional videos over the year. But it's mixed results as below.

February 2023 vs February 2024 Earnings

These percentages proudly brought to you by Calculator Soup  :D
https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/algebra/percent-change-calculator.php

  • Shutterstock = 37.7072% decrease
  • Pond5 = 41.5312% decrease
  • iStock = 9.16212% increase
  • Adobe Stock = 321.93% increase
  • Combined Agencies = 10.2993% increase

Clearly Adobe Stock is excelling while others waver or decline. Was only a year ago when I was struggling to get Adobe to perform well against other agencies and now it has come so far.

Overall achieved my satisfactory monthly earnings in February 2024 - the first since November 2023. Hoping to see Shutterstock and Pond5 pick up again.

Haven't posted charts of earnings for a while so hopefully folks will find this interesting and revive some discussion about our monthly results.

The charts represent January to April 2024 year-to-date earnings comparing previous years with the current year and comparing earnings by agency.

I had a BME on Adobe Stock in April and Adobe Stock has posted solid earnings each and every month for me so far this year - which is very encouraging because the agency demonstrates consistent sustainable earnings without the volatility of other agencies I contribute to.

With about 12,000 images at Alamy, they used to be my best portal.  Same number of images at SS, but they were always my lowest earner.
With only about 8,000 images at AS, they started coming to Alamy income levels in 2022, and surpassed them in 2023.  This month is telling:
Alamy $19
SS $72
AS $254
And there are no large swings at AS, VERY consistent month to month this year (+/- $10).

all told!

24,000 contents in 2 big agencies 91 usd in total!

I've already deleted Alamy and I think I'll also deactivate SS soon, leaving content on display for copycats and thieves in agencies that don't make any money,I don't think it's a good idea.

Awesome results both for April and lifetime earnings. Really great to hear mature ports can still achieve a BME.

Congratulations on these figures! I know very, very few contributors who can achieve such success with such a small portfolio. They are my role models. And you, too, have remained true to your motto "rather less, but very good".

If I see it correctly, you have an RPF (return per file - images and videos mixed, with a ratio of approx. 4:1) of around $200. That's really good!

We can still argue about whether talent is part of it or not. I say yes, you say no. But ultimately it doesn't really matter. The fact is: you deliver "stocky" image material - and that pays off.

What I can't remember: Did I ever ask you how long you've been offering on microstock?

I had about 400 downloads less this April than in April 2023. Amazing, but the revenue is still almost the same. However, I'm very far from a good April.

Thanks, Wilm, cobalt and Pacesetter.

Yes, we can still argue. This job doesnt require talent. Its very much engineering, and not only about how to operate the equipment. Once youve identified the formula, you apply it over and over again. Zero Talent is required for such repetitive work....  ;)
We are producers, not artists.... like or not.

About your question: In September 2013, I uploaded my first photo to Shutterstock.

P.S. Averages can be deceiving. In this case, the Pareto principle works better (my top seller, a photo, brought in over $8k, my best video, over $7k).
