... both SS and P5 were great during last day of July... SS like it was pre-2018 and P5 have announced some sale-price tests...

this month was very exciting.  for most of the last year AS was about 5-7x the sales of SS.  SS has slowly improved the last few months for me to the point where it has been competitive with AS.  istock has been right up there as well but because the numbers come out 3 weeks later i can't speak to how they did in july.  SS got off to a great start and was ahead for a long time with larger sales volume and a few higher sales in the first week.  one strong week from AS though put them right behind SS going towards the last week.  it was a difference of a few dollars up until the final days of the month but a couple small video sales pushed AS over the finish line to take first place.  i much prefer it this way over AS being the only show in town and the other agencies earning pennies.  had a best month on alamy and DT  but those numbers are so small i don't see myself ever getting a payout.  absolutely nothing from p5 despite uploading a lot of stuff in the last 2 months, seems like a waste of time so i'm pausing uploads there.

So August finished pretty well after a slow start to the month. Achieved my goal of over $1k. That said, earnings were down almost 14% compared to August 2023. Adobe Stock was the standout and iStock did pretty well (July). Shutterstock not great but held up to an average level but way lower than August 2023. Pond5 was pitiful and the lowest since January this year.

With what is coming from istock and some money from bb, envato I will reach 630 in total. There was a special license on stocksy for 132 dollars that made a big difference.

Adobe, which is the main agency I supply at the moment, was 456 dollars. 8% less than July but over 100% than August 23.

If it all continues and I keep doubling my monthly sales compared to 23 on Adobe, then over all agencies I will probably hit 12k this year.

I doubt I can double my income again next year, but if I reach 12k in 24 I think to aim for 15K as a baseline for 25 seems reasonable.

After the first few months I can adapt my projection. If I make 20%more  a month, or 50% more...or perhaps it goes down...we will see.

As a full time income in Germany at minimum I will need 30-35k. 45-50 is my goal to make it a sensible business and perhaps invest in quality model shootings.

But I would be happy with 30k, it wold be a minimum wage income, but full control of my time and allow me to mostly work from home and be a carer.

Making 12K - 15K per year on Adobe is totally doable.  In 2023, I hit about $20K, and so far this year, I'm at $14K with about 8.000 videos.

What do you mainly produce?  Videos?  How long have you been at it?  I started back when it was Fotolia, so I've been at this for quite a few years.  I think that might be the trick, but if longevity and a strong history is the secret, then people starting more recently have a serious uphill battle unfortunately.

Thanks for the motivation. I do mostly greeting card photos, only a few hundred videos, some editorial, some daily life, some food. Video is not my speciality.

I used to be an istock exclusive with a full time income, then left in 2013, uploaded my 1300 best files to Adobe and other places, then didn't do much with stock. except for eyeem.

Restarted uploading in sept 2022, then from Jan 23 mostly did ai. Now I have 6k files on Adobe.

I am trying very hard to lessen my dependance on seasonal bestsellers, uploading a lot of experimental things to try different markets and now that I can do illustration I have around 6k illustrations which I will gradually upload.

But next year will be a strong focus on video. I have 3 years of material on my harddrive, nothing stellar, just simple daily life clips that in my limited experence do sell.

Also lots of regional editorial from protests, carnival etc...

Will also look into a real strategy for video and next year also want to try doing a little ai. I tried ai video in January but wasn't very impressed, the quality was too low and it took too many prompts to get it right. Gen3 of runway seems to have improved but i would like to have access to sora and see how much it costs.

There is so much easy to shoot stuff in video with a normal camera, I don't think I must focus on ai already.

So 8k videos and 12-15k, or even over 20k...hm....maybe I should do at least some video every day and see how it goes.

I am not a pro, so let me assume with 8k clips I might make 5k a year? Or 3k on Adobe plus money from other places?

Video could be the missing link to a fulltime income.

Again, thank you for the encouragement.

that's exactly how it is,that's why time is important now.

those who started earlier cannot see many things simply because they had an easier climb,I'm glad someone who started a while ago can see it.

today going up is much more difficult,AI or not AI is still more difficult than 10 years ago.

is necessary to do everything, even videos,do it well and in quantity,I think at least an average of 150 contents per month but this is the minimum, but also need quality, and quality is not just technical quality.

what's happening now?

what's happening is that those who didn't have a solid portfolio are starting to make a loss, whereas previously even with a medium-low level port you could earn the same.

the going has gotten tough and all the issues are coming to a head!

Doable indeed, even with 1,839 assets (including 368 videos).

Very nice, wondering if you have similar numbers on SS as well?

zero talent with the most talent :)

thank you for sharing. I will never be that good but it is fantastic that real talent can be this successful.

I've already deleted Alamy and I think I'll also deactivate SS soon, leaving content on display for copycats and thieves in agencies that don't make any money,I don't think it's a good idea.

?? I would definitely hope copycats would steal my images that don't sell - better to have them steal those than best-sellers

there's a difference between no income, and minor  income. for me alamy & pond don't sell much, but when they do, the RPD is much higher -  again, 1 sale at $50 is much better than 200 at $.10

if your goal is to have a large increase in income, eliminating even small amounts of passive income may not be a solid strategy

it may be irrelevant as you've stated going exclusive with AS so you'll need to delete all other portfolios anyway

you even went and found a quote of mine from May 1st!  :D

I know Cascoly,life is hard!  :D

yes,I declared that I am exclusive with Adobe, and no I do not intend to eliminate old ports that I have in other agencies.

is there any problem about it?

I do as I want and I certainly don't have to do what you say.

for the moment my goal is to grow with Adobe, and then I will evaluate over time.

now please excuse me but I have a lot to do and I better focus on work,I already have too many distractions and little time!

There is no effort; once the metadata is in for the main agencies, uploading to FAA is just a matter of a few clicks.

Thanks, I know. Wanted to know if is worth paying to be a premium so I can upload more images. Have around 4k images ready to upload.

Ah ok. That fee was paid back many times over during last month... so yes.

Had a good September comfortably achieving my goal of over $1k and that doesn't include the Adobe Stock bonus which, when added together, made over $2k for the month.

Thanks Cobalt, it was actually over $2k all up, not $3k. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. However converting the final earnings in USD to the Aussie dollar (PayPal rate) is over $3k for the month so not too far off. Cheers.

Well, either way, your success is an inspiration.

I made around 800 dollars gross, not everything will be paied out now, places like Dreamstime will need to accumulate for a few months.

This month started off with the pond5 bonus which is nice. I hope this October goes over 1k, but we will see.
