This has been done before, but I figured that it is time to see if things have changed any since the last time.
What is Your Top Producing Microstock Site? (see poll at left)
Please explain if you choose "Other" or if you have any extenuating circumstances. For example, if you are Exclusive at a site, then you should disclose that. Or if you are only on two sites, it would be nice to share...
- Edited to make poll more obvious

I must not be observant. I read your post three times because I couldn't figure out exactly what you wanted. Didn't even realize there was a poll to the left until I went to click off to the list of discussions.

i voted shutterstock, but if i was going $/picture/year, then it would be istock by a long shot which is interesting since they have the lowest payout scale... If only it was more conveniant to get images onto the site.

Leaf, that may be really interesting for the next poll! ($/picture/per month maybe?) It would be fun if we could do an anonymous survey on that.

In terms of pure numbers still iStock. Dreamstime and Shutterstock tied to within $10 closely behind. Fotolia and StockXpert in third with a bit more than 50% of IS. BigStock, 123RF, FeaturePics at about 25% each. CanStock becoming obsolete: getting mostly 20 cent subscriptions now and considering removing my portfolio entirely.

Just to share the trend of my sales for the different stock sites.
It used to be SS. but since Mar, the highest earner is istock.

leaf, have you ever tried the pro version of ImageManger? very convenient for uploading to IS - other than the pure FTP to luckyoliver, it is the easiest to use of all the other sites i'm on.
i spent time over the weekend uploading a bunch of stuff to SS, DT, Fotolia, LO and IS - i really wish all of them would just drop this "category" organization... although maybe they keep those so that they limit the number of uploads we make? heehee - I really would like fotolia to make theirs easier - i really can't find what i'm wanting in their categories.

I find Shutterstock (http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=85) the best site to upload to.

My top ones are FP,BS,AI,CS

Hi all. I'm a newbie here, but I've been submitting to microstock sites since the beginning of the year.
Up until June my highest earning site was iStock, but for the past two months Shutterstock's pulled ahead.
Mind you, I've been submitting to them regularly. As I understand it, the way Shutterstock is set up, if you don't keep submitting your income falls off quite sharply. It's something to do with the way they highlight new images, I believe.

Most people seems to believe that SS are doing better than the others, for me, 8 days with 232 DL and 329 files certainly is very impressive, I am able to get large batch up and running in no time thanks to it's generous uploading limit,
Now my question is I have 500 pictures to upload, shall I do 50/week to make it consistently adding new pictures or shall I upload all of them the sooner the better.? ( since if you stop upload for a while, your sales will go down according to most of your experiece)
-
I'd probably do it in batches breaking up the subjects and waiting for the previous batch to be approved first since uploading puts your account in the queue not the actual photos. Once they get around to you they look at all your photos pending review.
-
I agree with IRCrockett. It will reduce the risk of too many simlar rejections. Once you have one photo in the que, all later uploads are added to that place so you have to wait until they have been reviewed before you upload more.
Alternatively get them all up there as time on site is the most important thing. You wont get a DL it it isn't there.
-
i would maybe upload 10 or so that are a good example of what the rest of the photos are like
if they are accepted upload the rest in one big batch, if not.. fix the rest before you spend all that time uploading.
-
Thanks again for all your input, those are very helpful.
Actually I got a batch of 168 approved 163 with similar subjects, so the 500 should be approved relatively easy, maybe I need to pace myself, so not to overwhelm one subject, besides they are not selling well compared with others due to editorial nature.

'I removed 800 images today at Canstk. It's an insult and embarresing. 15 months= $179.00, I make that much every week at SS alone.
