Can you believe Depositphoto sales are better than Shutterstock for me this month of Sept?  Here we are almost in the middle of Sept and I only have $6.00 dollars in sales on Shutterstock compared to $30.00 dollars in Depositphotos.  Even Mostphotos are doing better for me.  What happen to Shutterstock sales?  Can someone explain this drastic turnaround?  Thanks.

Same things for me, but in August... More sales at Deposit than Shutterstock...  In September both are dead, but the (few) sales at shutter are recent files which is unusual for me.

$6 here too on SS after nearly 1/2 a month, very depressing.

Sorry for the "brutally honest" truth, but there is no trend nor downturn to be detected, when we only talk about 50 cents/day. Noise. Luck. Accidental sales.

Shutterstock remains No.1, bringing in about 10x more than Depositphotos.

Yes I can... because you've told us so, and I've no reason to believe that you'd lie about such a thing. If you told me that everyone's DP sales were five times more than Shutterstock this month, then I'd be a bit sceptical. The drastic turnaround for just one person (or at least a very small amount of people) is probably just general variance... it might be the other way around next month.

If your're talking about 6 and 30 dollars in two weeks, you don't have enough sales for a statistical analysis of agency performance.

My sales in SS have decreased in the annual period from August 2016 to August 2017. The best August was 2015 triple to the 2017. Our job is to make good and commercial photographs, I think the work of SS is to promote the photographs, that they are not doing well !!!

What is it they've changed in their marketing approach, over the last year, that you're not happy with?

Many actions can be taken to promote images in a selective and timely manner and also give the tools so that each photographer can promote his collection.

Se pueden hacer muchas acciones de promocin de imgenes en forma selectiva y puntual y tambin dar las herramientas para que cada fotgrafo pueda promocionar su coleccin.

So they're not doing anything worse than what they were doing last year, when it comes to marketing, you just want them to do more now? I'm curious why what they were doing last year was acceptable, and now they're not doing enough? Or did you express dissatisfaction last year as well? If so, did anything come of it, did you get any feedback?

You are very aggressive to comment on an adult forum. I'm not interested in staying here !!! It does not bring anything just annoying.

There's no aggression, I'm just asking important questions that will hopefully make you think a little bit further than just assuming the agencies are always to blame. None of the agencies are perfect, maybe they could do more, but I think it's very important for people to make sure their own house is in order (i.e. they're doing everything they possibly can to maintain and improve sales) before blaming others.

Sure, if Shutterstock has made a marketing change which clearly has a negative impact on sales, then that would be a different matter... blame away! But that's why I asked if they had. If they haven't changed anything, then their marketing is unlikely to blame for dropping sales.

"You are very aggressive to comment on an adult forum."

Is aggression acceptable on children's forums?

(that was sarcasm, not aggression!)

Doing the same as you did last year is not really a recipe for success in modern business though. It is true that sales have not increased in line with SS's own forecasts so i'd like to think they are looking at aspects of their marketing along with the rest of the business just as I look how to improve my work and ensure it meets this year's needs. But yes I'm unlikely to be able to influence ss's marketing strategy.
