There are already proposals in Ukraine to erect a monument to Trump in Ukraine. I think if there is no war with Iran and oil continues to fall in price, the idea of a monument will have a right to exist.

For those of you in countries other than the USA, how many Chevys, Cadillacs, or Ford vehicles do you see on a daily basis?  Know why you don't see as many as Toyotas or BMWs? Because your county has had outrageous tariffs and/or crippling regulations on the USA for years, causing American-made vehicles, as an example, to be outrageously expensive compared to the Volkswagens, Hondas, or Audis.

Bro's never been to Europe. Majority of the US cars are simply too large for Europe's roads and cities. And they consume way too much gas - not a problem in the US with cheap gas, but a huge deal in Europe. Basically only Tesla is producing cars suitable for Europe - and surprise, they were happily selling cars in Europe, until Elon went into nazi mode a few months ago.
The tariff + VAT when importing a car made in the USA to the EU is about 30%. This is banditry, parasitism and theft of money from US citizens. Only the Democrats supported such a parasitic EU policy.
At the same time, when exporting cars to the USA, the Americans took only 2.5% tariffs from the European parasites.
Only thanks to the US patriot Trump, today the US introduced 25% tariffs on cars exported to the USA. And I think that this is very little, it is necessary to introduce 30% to 40% tariffs.
And there is no need to talk here about how American cars are bad or big and that all the cities in the EU are very narrow, etc.

What a BS comparison. We pay in EU 19-20% VAT on ALL cars. And what? You pay no VAT in the US on cars?
There is no such tax as VAT in the USA.
Therefore, the budgets of the Euro countries receive income from both the tariffs they impose on the USA and the VAT that US enterprises are forced to pay when exporting products to the EU.

That's nonsense - VAT is sales tax (which I've certainly paid in the USA also).  It applies to EU and locally produced goods no differently to any US import - in this country you pay VAT on a hotel stay for example and the rooms are certainly not imported from USA.

Yeah but nah... pretty sure the spiders, snakes, and drop bears are more likely to get you before the Chinese military does. I mean strewth, you're more likely to die playing goon of fortune than getting whacked by the Chinaroos... fair dinkum.

hahaha

Yeh, she'll be right, mate.

PS, but what's a drop bear???

Trump says, tariffs are going ahead. Stock market goes down. Trump says, we're going to pause most tariffs (today). Stock market goes up. It's like a game of Simon Says. :D

Stock market graph is starting to look like trump's signature.**

A good way to make a fortune if you are an insider.

That's a great point, and I heard the main culprit for all this saying the other day, or rather tweeting on his social media platform "This is the great time to get rich".  Make of this what you want.

btw AM24, didn't know you were getting Colbert down under ?!  I saw this signature joke the other night too

Yes, we do!  I watched it for Cory Booker. I've always liked him, but it's not about party lines, I've always liked former republican governor, Chris Christie as well. Candidates who are strong, intelligent, genuinely care about the world, their country and its people, have integrity, and make a lot of sense.

Real leaders of the free world.

This is interesting, I just found Chris Christie's last town hall, and at around 5:24 he talks about tariffs.

Trump has imposed a 90-day pause on tariffs for parasites. Communist China remains under tariff sanctions.
I think the pause is connected with the protests of cowardly Democrats, liberals and communists in the US. The tariffs will be resumed in the summer, when all this scum will go on vacation and it will be hot in the US.
Personally, I don't like this pause, it can increase oil prices, which will strengthen the Russians. I think that policy should be consistent. But Trump knows better.

His hand was forced. By his own government. The US bond market was about to collapse so he was asked to back down. If it had collapsed it would have had disastrous consequences for not only the USA economy but global finances around the world.

Elements of currency and trade policies are also related in both Trump terms. Thus, the theses on the need to weaken, that is, devaluation, of the dollar are well-known. Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are of the opinion that a strong dollar is harmful to the US economy, as it makes imports (from various countries, in particular from China) cheap and accessible, and exports from the US, on the contrary, more expensive. This destroys the industrial base of the US and causes an increase in the trade deficit. There are intentions to try to force US trading partners to revalue their own currencies (following the example of the Plaza Accord of September 22, 1985 during the time of Ronald Reagan when five developed countries agreed on a controlled devaluation of the dollar to reduce imbalances in international trade).

The basic tariff of 10% remains for everyone.
For China, the tariff has grown to 125%. The tariff is growing for the communists of China every day.  ;D ;D ;D
As for the rest, I think many factors have influenced this, Trump speaks the language of an ultimatum.
We can only say one thing for now, everyone is afraid of Trump and everyone respects him and the United States.

That's a good point daniel.  I was hoping to attract attention of someone that moderates this Forum, but whoever that either hasn't been coming here for a long time or simply considers this form of entertainment.

I will stop now, as you suggested.  But retard will erode the Forum if this is allowed to continue;  remember that Asian scam on Shutterstock Forum that eventually led to Forum closure.  Same thing is happening here.

much as i dislike their lies & distortions, only a few posts violate forum rules (& i've sent them to the moderator who has removed some posts and banned other users)

i dislike censorship so continue to point out their lies, mostly to alert lurking readers to those ignorant posts, and in the past weeks several more folk have done so  too, while there's only one other who supports them.  also, in responding i benefit by reinforcing vague ideas with research to better support those ideas (and build content for my blog)

Today, CNN writes about how trump's trade war with China will hurt American farmers. Particularly, soybeans.

"To analyze which nation might blink first, CNN examined Chinas largest imports from the United States soybeans to see if and how that demand could be met elsewhere, what US farmers stand to lose and more. Both countries are deeply intertwined with each other on trade, though China sells about three times more to the US than it buys. The result is a significant trade deficit amounting to almost $300 billion in Chinas favor, a gap that Trump wants to close with tariffs."

This is the problem. Trump has spoken about tariffs fixing USA's problems, but what he's really talking about are trade deficits. He seems to think that deficits are a sign of weakness. And he doesn't seem to understand tariffs at all.

There are even some advantages to having trade deficits, so its not all bad.

-Imported goods ensure that a countrys people obtain the products they want but cant get at home.
 - An inflow of foreign capital, invested wisely, can increase productivity and economic growth.
 - A resulting drop in value of the domestic currency can lower the cost of exports and stimulate buying from abroad.
 - Job growth may occur in certain sectors.

And of course, the bull-in-a-china-shop approach, without thinking things through, can be devastating.

He's supposed to be the master of The Art of The Deal but has anyone actually read Art of the Deal? It's just a whole lot of bullying tactics. For example: "According to the book, Donald came up with the idea of buying Swifton Village, a struggling apartment complex in Cincinnati. He partnered with his dad to turn Swifton around, then, just as the neighborhood headed irretrievably downhill, tricked a buyer into overpaying: "The price was $12 millionor approximately a $6 million profit for us." (wiki)

He was the school bully when he was a kid. He was trained to be a bully by his father and Roy Cohn. Everything he has ever done is straight out of the Bully Playbook 101. But can he bully China? I doubt it very much.

Plus its not a very good look for America on the world financial and political stage. Bullying is not a sign of strength but weakness.

The true art of the deal is about artful negotiations. Its not about trickery, deceit or bullying.
