Title: US tax requirements for non-Americans? Getty? Shutterstock?
Post by: grp_photo on April 21, 2009, 14:07
Okay i make a new thread since photoshelter is gone.
I recently became my invitation for the Getty Images Creative Stills and after signing the Getty Images Contributor Agreement i'm struggling with their requirement for a w7 and an irs--w8ben -forms. Is this really necessary? I'm a submitter to Shutterstock for over 4 years and a contributor to Corbis for over 5 years and never filled out such forms or being asked to do so.
Any non-American have experience with this?
I personally don't wan't to give any us-government personal information.
Are any non-American Getty-Contributors in this forum, what is your experience? Did you fill out the form? And if you did not does they really actually withhold this 30% from your royalties?

Can't help with that one, it's something to do with their tax laws which I don't understand. Submit the forms, they're a respectable company. Or don't submit the forms and pay the 30% which is tax deductable at this end anyway.
