What do you think of Vectorstock's prices? It seems to me like they make almost everything one credit. Lots of these files would sell for ten credits at iStockphoto or other agencies. Maybe more. I guess they're just trying to compete. But still, it seems far too cheap to me.

Here's an example of a one credit file that should probably be more like ten credits: http://www.vectorstock.com/royalty-free-vector/46340

Again, just curious as to what everyone else thinks.

I will give them credit for doing a decent job on re-designing their website, though.

I agree, I guess it really depends on how well they sell (it'd be the same commision from vectors at SS).  I've never taken the time to figure out how to submit vectors there.  I think some of the other vector artists on this site submit there and feel pretty positive about it though.

Really? I haven't seen much except for the previous threads where it was discussed and the sentiments seemed to be something other than what I'd describe as "pretty positive". I should check them out again I guess. I must have missed some major shift.

ETA:
Yeah, my original assessment stands. In addition to very low sales, they are undervaluing files, and the number of elements in some of these are ridiculous, and still priced at 1 credit. These people are really giving their work away, but seem happy because "at least they are fair and price everyone's files at 1 credit!"  :o

The people who contribute to that site deserve what they get anyway, so no problem.  I have an idea they might be convinced to give their files for free until they reach a certain ranking! And when they are about to reach that ranking you just change the Terms&Conditions and they will say "Oh, well, It is what it is! Get on with it"   ;D

Well I certainly apologize for having mislead this poor individual in such a ghastly and poor direction.  I guess I was sorely misguided by the advice you so ebulliently contributed regarding the resizing of files for Vectorstock.

http://www.microstockgroup.com/illustration-general/anyone-using-vectorstock-com/

However after further investigation I realized that there was neary a thread started regarding Vectorstock that lacked a, shall we say, dark rain cloud of disapproval from you.

I have followed this site for quite a while and have never been disappointed by the certain negative slant you put on everything.

While all I have to go on is the iStock speedometer below your name, since you have not allowed your portfolio to be public, I assume that you are by far the best vector artist that ever lived and I take every word from your keyboard as gospel.  From now on I shall seek your approval prior to answering a single thread for fear of upsetting you.

So kudos Mr. Whoever; your contribution to the "art" and science of microstock photography shall forever be remembered.

Yes, prices are far too low. Commissions are too, for a new-comer site (starting by 25 %)

VS are stealing customers from the other agencies with their competitive prices, and that just sucks.

The OP asked for everyone's opinion. I gave mine. End of story.

...but I admit I am confused how my giving someone a tip about resizing files in Illustrator implies my endorsement of Vectorstock?

One more CS - like site - only for illustrations... I am member there too... NO SINGLE IMAGE THERE ;-)

I just want to see where some of great artists will end up with their uploads there as well with results on sales there...
Anyway, you freely go and upload there... I've choosed different nitche market for my illustrations...

The main reasons why I decided to pull off my works from Vectorstock are:

1. Pricing:
$10 single vector sales on STOCKXPERT which I get regular basis...
$20 Single vector sales on Veer marketplace.
$.36 Download on Shutterstock with massive number of sales. $2.70 For OD downloads and $28 for Extended licences... Shutterstock ROCKS and is the best in sales!!!
$.30 Download at Photos.com and JUI - Daily figures I don't want to enclose but are quite nice and close but below number to shutterstock.
Other agencies who give me fair cut from prices they make!

2. Review:
On Vectorstock they want only your best works (like on CS) and they reject all they think is not needed... So, they will rip off your portfolio size to half and maybe less and give you the lovest commission with undervaluing your vector images.

3. I don't wish to be part of army which tries to destroy stock industry!

@Milinz

You mentioned Veer marketplace. Is there a direct way to get member there, or did you enter via Snapvillage?  ???

Just sign up on their site and you'll need initial 10 to get approved if you don't have images on SV.
There are several threads about Veer here on forum - read some.

I will upload initial ten of my currently over 800 online because I never uploaded to SV. I even can't remember if I ever signed in ;-)

Everything at Vectorstock is 1 credit, and while that is a bit disappointing, it's not enough by itself to keep me from signing up.

What does stop me from signing up is how they mislead you into thinking that some of your files will actually be priced at more than 1 credit. If they want to price everything at 1 credit, fine. But by displaying a tiered rate schedule and implying that files will be priced appropriately based on the complexity of the image, and then going ahead and pricing everything at 1 credit after you join and submit files, to me that seems like a bait-and-switch.

Change the pricing policy and I'll gladly sign up. Until than, thanks, but no thanks.

I was thinking a while ago that I am going to send them an email directly and ask If they were to really price my files based on complexity and treat more complex files accordingly, then I would join because the royalties are not a big problem as they increase with your ranking increasing.

And you must be the best of the best illustrators to get your rank increasing due to they accept only the best of best vectors for sales and their volume is just fragment of other places ;-)
